Sigils are alright once you figure out how to dance around them and pop in to cast your spell. Don't expect to take out all your enemies just standing still in a Fire Sigil for example, dodge around them and blast them when they're open since you're immune to your own explosions/traps/etc.
Pistols take time to reload and you can't move while doing so from what I understand, so the best way to use them is with multiple guns to swap to and rapid fire them, just remember to reload them all after the fight. Also guns combo with the Sigil of Wind frighteningly well.
You're other range option is bow which could be a good opening with Sniper and the extra lock on range but might become less reliable when they get close.
As for stealth, if you want to go that route you'll need Rogue Engineer, but if you pick the Stealth skill it locks you out of Pressure Plate Expertise which boosts them and makes them reusable.
Is it possible to cast hex and not be detected if in stealth bonus from rogue?
I am wondering because if you can stack 4 then trigger, then rupture the damage is quite sweet.
Does stealth actually work in this game?
I would assume so. I once cast 3-4 Hexes on the Wendigo in the ice cavern in the Corrupted Tomb in Chersonese without him responding until I used Torment. I don't use stealth much, but I have noticed enemies don't respond much when at max lock on range, at best they'll be "suspicious" and start walking toward you. Stealth should lower the range that starts to happen. So I'd say it's very possible to drop Hexes on someone from stealth and then hit them with Torment/Rupture and they might not even come directly at you.
I'm sure someone else has found it already, but from what I know the best possible Hex damage would come from using the Frozen Chakram to apply Elemental Vulnerability (-25% Resistance to all 5 elements), a Steel/Cerulean Saber with the Rainbow Hex enchantment (builds all 5 elemental hexes on hit, Puncture sword skill to apply Pain, with all 5 elemental Boons plus Discipline active, it should allow you to hit for over 400 damage with Rupture alone. Not accounting for target Resistance, player armor damage bonuses, or revealed souls.
Sounds sweet, this will be my next run through.
