Definitive Confusion
I am not sure if I actually have the definitive edition or not. Steam calls it just Outward and in the main menu it's the same thing it just Says Outward, no Definitive Edition no dlc name nothing. I get no option which version I want to launch when I start directly through steam.

After I saw that I had no cooldown reduction stat on gear I startet to look into it and found out that that would be the case if I just had the normal version since that was a new addition later on and along the way I found out about all the stuff I mentioned above that I should have but don't. There is no second exe for the definitive edition and reinstalling doesn't help and it shouldn't as last time I played before this year was when the base game came out back when it did.

So what do I do? I've read that people who owned the original game and the three brothers dlc got the definitive edition for free but I never bought any dlc so I would not be surprised if I only have the normal edition, but then why does the banner on steam say Definitive Edition? Steam also thinks I have the Definitive Edition if I go to the shop. Do I need to buy the dlc and then it upgrades or something?

if you bought it a while ago and don't have 3 brothers you don't have definitive edition

Yes but the problem is that I can't even buy the definitive edition because steam says I have it.

steam doesn't say you have it, the banner doesn't matter, buy 3 brothers to get your defed upgrade

Alright I'll go buy the dlc but if I go to the store page of the definitive edition it says "In Library" and I can leave a review.

you can blame the devs for that, that's just the way they did things instead of actually making a new entry for defed

Well yeah, but I still had to ask first just in case I just had a weird bug or whatever.

Haven't read all the replies but if you never bought the definitive then you're on classic Outward aka Oldward.
Steam banners and all changed to DE because Oldward was replaced by Definitive Edition in the store since it's release in 2022. Oldward can't be purchasable anymore.
My advice is to buy the TTB DLC just to unlock the DE content (which has all DLC's in one), cuz most mods were meant to work on it and there's where the replayability relies.

A few points of interest here...

1) The person you replied to isn't the OP.
2) The person you replied to is giving some clarifying details as to why the banner/game information in the store/library was changed to reflect as DE.
3) I don't believe they were posting with the expectation of any reply or response.

Double check what they posted to make sure what you read and what you may have taken away match up.

I had the same issue until i saw another thread saying to launch the game, and that at the main menu if it just says Outward then you own the classic, and if it says Definitive Edition you have the Definitive Edition
