cant interact with items/people

Just started a new game after years of not playing. woke up in the lighthouse and when i go to my stash and press interact with it to open stash, nothing happens and the prompt disappears. after that i can't pick up any items or even leave the lighthouse. the prompts appear but i cant do anything. Restarting will fix it but everytime i go to the stash it does this. even if i don't go to the stash and leave the house, it seems to happen randomly when interacting with something. only fix so far is restarting the game which isnt a fix. Tried changing my interact button and verifiying game files.

any help?

Edit: So it seems anytime i interact with a vendor, it creates this problem as well. I go to talk to a vendor, nothing happens and the prompt to talk disappears for all vendors. However the prompts are still there to talk to the guards and enter doors, however none of them work.

I've never heard of anyone experiencing this bug. Can you record it and post it on YouTube to demonstrate?
It's been 13 hours since you asked the question and nobody has responded yet, so it's possible that nobody here knows how to help. You could also try asking on the Official Outward Discord server.

I suppose the most reasonable thing to do would be to just verify game files.

You also said that you have played it a while ago, does it means you had installed the game whole this time? If so, then perhaps you were using some mods, which now (after multiple patches since then) turned to be outdated = creating some conflicts.
In that case, I would suggest to completely reinstall whole game.

Jawwadbr: when i was searching for answers i couldnt find anything, a few issues people had were somewhat similar but didn't lock them out like it does me.

Karsui: did verify the game files and no luck. I did play with mods before, but then unistalled the game ages ago. When i reinstalled, i checked the files and the mod folder wasnt there anymore. I did do a uninstall and re install and verify files again and still same issue sadly.

I'll try to get a video up in the next day or so.

Any updates on the fix? I'm with that bug as well, I reinstalled the game after a year or so and wanted to continue on my save, but the Interact button stops working after you try to use it.

Also when you try to use it, the button to drop and get you bag also stop working.
It's a freaking weird bug...

I found that I can interact but I don't see any text (prompts for it). Try check if Settings > Gameplay > Show HUD is enabled.

Have you tried turning off overlays? Sometimes they can prevent interacting with things in games from functioning properly.

you have to hold the button down it was changed a while ago
