Bought a key, how do I know if I have the Definitive Edition?
I apologize if this is dumb, but I'm confused. The store page states that all DLC is included in the DE, but I bought my key elsewhere, and only noted after activation that it said nothing about being the DE. Now, when I visit the store page for the game (Outward Definitive Edition), it says it's in my library, but both DLC are still purchasable. The game just launches as Outward, even though the banner on the library says Outward Definitive Edition, while just being listed as Outward IN my library with no DLC attached.

Wall of text, I know, but if somebody could help clarify this business, I'd be much obliged. Do I need to buy the DLC or something, now? Is that why I was able to find a key for $10? If buying the game includes the DLC anyway, and there's no other version of Outward I can find on Steam, why sell the DLC separately? What am I missing, here?

If you got DE no need for DLCs, you only want the dlcs if you want to play classic Outward and not DE. Also, all of this question got answered in many others posts.

Not entirely, they did not, but that does clarify a bit.

My confusion came from purchasing the game outside of Steam, where it was just listed as Outward, not Outward Definitive Edition. I was worried I may have purchased the wrong thing, but it sounds as though that isn't possible.

If you launch the game not by .exe but from steam and the logo behind the main menu(continue, new game etc) says "Outward Definitive Edition" then you already have all the DLCs.

See, that's the thing. Main menu just says Outward, not Outward DE.

So, did I accidentally buy Classic Outward? Is that possible?

If you are not seeing the option to choose the version of Outward you want to play, it's likely because you purchased the Classic version of the game. Based on what you mentioned about acquiring the key outside of Steam, it seems like you may fall under the category of other users who have had the same question, like I said before.

You can watch this video to confirm whether or not you own DE. If you do not own the DE, you can upgrade your game to the Definitive Edition by purchasing the Three Brothers DLC.

First thing I did was check the game properties for a DLC tab, and found none. That video helps confirm that I did, indeed, buy the classic version like a dumbass.

Now to figure out if I buy the Three Brothers DLC outside Steam (so much cheaper), if it'll upgrade this version to the DE and holy hell why is this even an option.

I know I'm an idiot and just blew $10 on an inferior version, but Jesus, give a guy a warning or something.

Well, I don't know where you bought Outward, but it seems like it might be the seller's fault since the developers have been warning people about this quite a lot, before DE release ofc.

Eneba. I use them all the time without issue. Maybe it was lack of sleep, I dunno. I just said ♥♥♥♥ it and bought the DE upgrade, which was another $10, but still cheaper than just buying it on Steam.

Lesson learned. Pay extra attention to ♥♥♥♥ when you're running on fumes and key sellers list dated versions of the same product for the same price as the updated product with virtually nothing to distinguish whether or not you're paying for the older product.

Thanks for your help.

My DLC tab now says I own DEFED DLC and The Three Brothers. Not the Soroboreans, however, which, I dunno, maybe it'll download later. I'm too tired for this ♥♥♥♥ right now.

Game better be worth it.

For the record, this is a pretty unique situation because they wanted to do Definitive Edition as a separate product, but because they wanted to give it away to those with the DLC already, storefronts said no, so they did this as a hack to allow those with Three Brothers DLC to activate Definitive Edition. Do NOT download Soroboreans: it is included in the DEFED DLC. I almost made that mistake myself.

Thank you, VERY MUCH, for clarifying that Soroboreans is included in the DEFED DLC. Having watched jawwdbr's youtube video in which it's listed among his other DLC, and seeing it still not listed in mine, I'd likely have made that mistake at some point thinking I was still playing an incomplete version of the game.

yeah, sorry mb, I forgot to mention that you only needed to have DEFED and Three Brothers in the DLC tab because DE have all DLCs content inside it.

No worries. Thank you for taking the time to help and clarify all this for me.
