and of course you don't have your save, saves are not compatible between oldward and defed
the beta thing mentioned should be called mono-branch if you want to mod the game by the way
Ok so went ahead and redid everything to make sure.
went to steam and made sure that the game is set to always run Definitive and that the beta is set to mono-branch like you said.
told modman to launch definitive version not base outward.
then put in simply the Bepin mod just as a test since i'll need it anyway.
tried to launch modded but got the error that I needed to tell the game where the outward definitive directory was. so i went through and told it to use the DefEd .exe as apparently I had to select the exe.
I click to start modded and box from steam pops up saying
Outward is attempting to launch with the optional parameters shown below
"--doorstop-enable true -doorstop-target C:\name\appdata\roaming\r2modmanplus=local\outwardDE\profiles\default"
So I click OK
then because I have to run the game as admin to prevent stuttering windows says its trying to launch definitive. so I say yes then a few seconds pass and it says its launching outward. If I click yes it goes to base game if I click no it just closes.
Any other ideas I can try or maybe somewhere I can go to ask questions?
Go to settings, check the 'locations' tab and scroll down a bit.
You'll see where it says 'Change Outward Definitive directory'
I know you said you already did it but just double-check it.
The path should be something like this
C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Outward\Outward_Defed
Then select Outward Definitive Edition.exe
If you still have issues i'd suggest doing a re-install of r2 modman and doing it over.
Install modman, search for Outward. Hover your mouse over Outward Definitive and instead of 'Select Game' click on 'Default'.
Then before installing mods, manually change the Outward path. Start the game un-modded and check if it'll actually run Vanilla DE. If it starts unmodded DEF then installing mods shouldn't be an issue anymore. If it still launches Oldward 'The Three Brothers' then i am out of ides when it comes to r2modman.
The only other thing i could suggest is to manually install mods.
Oh I forgot that I can do manual as everyone I saw does it automatic. I'll give it a go before giving up . Thanks for the tips and trying to help though.
Just checked and thunderstore does have a help page.
https://github.com/ebkr/r2modmanPlus/wiki/Why-aren't-my-mods-working%3F
The page has a link at the bottom for their discord server, maybe they could help you out.
And my english isn't the best but i did a written guide on how i manually installed my mods when another player had issues, and in the end, it did work out for them. It was only for the mod more map detail, you'd need to follow instruction for each mod you manually install

Either way, hope you'll be able to figure things out!
