On the other hand, you're not getting extra loot in multiplayer so you have to split everything. This can make parts more challenging, especially near the start when you're trying to scrounge up a decent kit. Without mods, you don't even share quest rewards, so the host player can end up getting quite a bit ahead.
The mod thing you read is probably referring to the mod that lets you play with more than 1 friend (up to 8 people with it being stable, max is like 16 people before the networking starts breaking iirc, which also has custom difficulty you can change).
i think if its like what I remember of playing with my EX in the first game. It end sup getting harder but balances out for two players. Ive never played this game multiplayer though.
Having played pretty much 90% of my time in co-op for Outward, the game is brutal enough to new players that having a second person around is a massive safety net.
That being said, once you get into the rhythm of things and learn how to take on more dangerous enemies, it may become just a bit trivial at times. But then you just start looking for harder challenges, such as bosses and unique enemies.
If you want to really avoid making the game too easy, don't use traps or tripwires, they make ♥♥♥♥ so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ simple in co-op, even in some boss fights.
As a final note: Keep in mind the story progress and stuff is HOST ONLY, meaning whoever joins won't be getting the quest rewards from factions and whatnot, but they can still get loot, learn new skills, etc.
They'll then basically have a sort of head-start on playing through their own story, either solo or with you joining co-op.
Then most of the loot can be share, example you played as 2 handed heavy warrior while your buddy play as hex caster.
Compare to solo, you also can carry more loot back home, that is because the profit are going to spend upgrade for both players.
Host can get quest reward so will be slightly stronger than helper, but I see no big issue here.
2 players also mean you can handle most situation more flexible than solo.
Go for it. but prepare this game does not hold your hand
its NOT to easy. this game will fck you in the behind every time it can. you can feel strong and an enemy you have killed multiple times already ezpz goes super sayan and just hits and hits and gives you 0 chance to hit back.
some enemies even if you got a big shield knocks you down from their strong attacks and follows with a 3rd while you are on the ground.
its prob easy for people who knows what they are doing but damn this game is hard otherwise. like honestly i dont know how solo players do it.
Just dodge/parry/block - hit - repeat if you're a full melee, otherwise if you're a range it's just EZ.
just dont get hit 4head
