are you sure you're actually playing the definitive edition of the game, cos you may have clicked on the wrong one
Fairly sure it's the only one I have. It's simply called "Outward" in the library scroll list on the left but it says Outward Definitive Edition in the main window.
so you click on it in steam and a little window comes up saying do you wanna play definitive edition or not, right?
And no, 3 Brother isn't included in DE afaik.
STOP SPREADING MISSINFORMATION please. you need the tree brothers dlc to be allowed to download the DE for free. not soroboreans. its the other way around from what you said.
the DE DOES NOT EXIST without ALL DLCs INCLUDED. NO EXCEPTIONS. this means soroboreans AND the three brothers. so if someone comes here and claims he doesnt have access despite playing DE he isnt actually playing the DE to begin with.
the tc is not playing the DE no matter what he/she claims here. its really that simple.
as you cannot play the DE and not have full access to ALL dlc areas (mod conflicts excluded here as these are a selfmade problem). and caldera can be accessed at ANY point in time. you can just walk in there from the forest area at any point in time in the game. there is STILL people here claiming you need to finish the story to access caldera which is also missinformation.
Oh really? Is that a fact now? Ok then. Guess you know best.

Judging by the second image you only have the classic version of Outward (and the first DLC). According to some other recent player posts you get the DE as soon as you own the second DLC.
The DE-version is either recognized by having the 'OUTWARD -DEFED DLC' in your Steam Libary (either 'additinal content' or 'properties') or by seeing that 'Definite Edition' on the ingame main screen.
And yes, the DE has both DLC's included / incorporated. You can play both contents but the DLC aren't shown seperatedly. Players that bought Outward after the DE-Release will see the second DLC (TTB) listed seperately - but thats (only) for the also included classic version.
Hope this clears up some misunderstandings ...
Well there's something screwy going on then because I know I bought the DE. This screenshot better illustrates that point (probably should have taken a shot of this part of the page last night but I was sleepy and cranky).

I'll try uninstalling and re-installing it later today when I have a chance I guess but after that I'll probably just give up if it doesn't work. Honestly the game isn't worth this much of a headache.
a better screenshot to take would be of your DLC section
I had a humble bundle key for Outward - basically the OG version. I installed it, Steam told me I had the definitive version, basically because that's the "least" version that exists on Steam really? The Soroboreans read like it was in my Library on the store.
I started playing for several hours, did not get an option to start the Def Ed (didn't know it existed as a separate option). Saved and closed and reopened a few times over a couple of days. Bought Three Brothers on sale, closed and reopened. Got the option for Def Ed. Opened Def Ed, no character - sad face.
So that's a thing that happens. I don't know if it happens if you buy Outward Def Ed now on Steam, or only if you use an old key, but this is how it went down for me.
That's how it works when you use an old key from before DE, yes. If you buy it now you get the whole thing, but that also means you have the option to play the old version without the DLC. And the old version will launch automatically if you run from desktop.
Should be able to convert your Oldward save to DE using the tool located at https://github.com/GymMed/OutwardSaveFixer/releases.
