Just lost a backpack worth 1000s of gold
GG my backpack just disappeared. Bunch of gold bars and pretty much everything important I needed. Back to 0 on the grind.

Why would that matter? if you are reffering to the prison. I know about that. It is just gone.

If it was in a hobo camp or something in town, they made it so with the definitive edition items despawn in town every 7days or so.

Did you try to reload a recent backup save?

^^^ Sucks, but just get your stuff back. That or you can re-camp everything...

.. So the "Definitive" Edition removes a quality of life feature that made the inventory tedium tolerable (though by no means corrected the weaknesses of the UI), and yet *didn't* provide anything to reasonably replace it?

if i had a bug and lost tons of important stuff , i would just use debug and slap what i lost, then continue, but i use debug for file saving, i see at least 5 + files saving, never used a back up file, knock on wood, but debug is super nice, i added the time of day and the black pearl mask that i farm for ever and still not dropping, is it even in DE as first time it drop super early and use the teleport to city as ingame, just to cheap to pay the trader, i got my own magic teleport
Thanks for all the replies all, but I already gave up on this game. It is not just this topic, but a whole lot of stuff. This game is so unfinished and so horribly designed (This is coming from someone who played all the souls games on PC and still loved it). I just can't bare to play this anymore. I'm an old dog who has seen a lot in his 40 years gaming career, but even I have my limits :) If you enjoy it, power to you, but I am out.

Had this happen to me a few times in the base game. Try dieing (before picking up another backpack), when you die it will always try to move your backpack to a fixed location based on the death scenario - so it should teleport it back to you.

Agree with you on the game in general though. Im 5 hours in and have noticed a total of 3 minor differences, 2 of which simply make the game harder - not better.

Right now I'm on hold due to critical bugs on several skills. And that's just the stuff I tested.
Most notably ritualist skills and dagger skills.

As for the difficulty, I had to restart when I was a noob because I was stuck in a deathloop. I saved the lighthouse (found the writs), but I kept on dying. Which advanced time, made me lost money/valuable and made all my food/ingredients rots. Eventually reaching winter with no gear no money and no food. So I was just dying when I went outside doing nothing. Spending 5 mnext to a campfire every 50m grew old very fast.

Early on, the game likes to kick you when you are down. And then, when you get down even easier, it keeps on kicking you.
Unlike say Dark Souls. The worst that can happen is losing your souls. Other than that, you can keep on dying and it won't do anything.

Eventually, I learned how the games works, then restarted and it was a non issue.

Should have just let yourself die again. Would have teleported back to you. I've heard this complaint 100s of times. There has never been a single case of it actually disappearing. Just of that the OP doesn't fully understand the game and ruined himself instead of doing one of the basic things to instantly recover it.

Nope. You can die multiple times in a row and backpack will still not appear.
Had the exact problem in co-op yesterday.

Or maybe you don't understand that people complained about this problem for years and your fav game indeed can have bugs.
Never happened to you? Consider yourself lucky.

In fairness, yeah, played this game for almost 900 hours and only once did I legitimately have my bag bug out, but in that case it was a completely bricked backpack that I could *see* but could not *interact* with, rather than it up and completely disappearing.

This is further complicated by the new "design decision" to despawn backpacks after a time, so lots of assumptions are being made there. If it was due to death, it's almost certainly unintentional and a bug. But if it's been in the game since launch.. damn, that's super no bueno, zero excuse for it still being there with a titled game re-release.

I've more than gotten my money out of the game, and I've recommended it to those I can willing to put up with its eccentricities, but honestly I'm just.. hoping for a sequel by now to have them take a second crack at it from scratch.

i am really curious where and how this happend. as it never happend to me in my over 300 hours. meanwhile the recipes gone bug is much much more common compared. had that happen over 15 times by now. thankfully catched it instantly each time and deleted the autosave. still annoying.

bug bags never disappeared for me (aside when left in a reset area of course but thats on me alone)
