the correct answer.
this is not a bethetic game afterall
Beware of the shared quest reward though, with it a character could potential have all factions' passive. Kinda broken imo.
If you wanna play coop, switch host every now and then : complete the quest line for one player then switch to host complete the other player quest line.
Mods you like =/= must have
Not to say you can't like mods. But pedaling mods to new players, especially ones that make the combat legitimately braindead as "must have" is dishonest.
and even if i go for the most popular ones i do check them before adding them and that is why i am very thankful of players that actually mention said mods
This. None of the mods are must have and some are basically cheating. Animation canceling is pretty much a cheat, since enemy attacks are slow and they can't animation cancel themselves either.
I don't know what "improved map" does, but since they fixed the bug that markers don't stay at their original position there is nothing more the map needs. If the "improved map" mod shows your location, then it's actually detrimental to the game. The game's quests and world are designed to work with a map without a marker. Finding your way around the map and actually learning the map is part of what makes the game fun, at least to me.
Shared quest rewards is, depening on how you use it, somewhere between pointless and a cheat. It's a cheat if you play more than one storyline with it, it allows you to get strong skills which are usually mutually exclusive. Anything but the main story quests simply give money, but that happens at a point in the game where you usually have more than enough money anyway. Yeah, it can be somewhat useful if you play just one storyline together with these characters. But personally i'd highly suggest to play one storyline, then switch hosts and then play another storyline. Since your character is already built and equipped by that point, you can ignore everything that isn't main story. The "second" playthrough in such a setup allows you to see the story from a second faction and takes maybe 10% of the playtime of the first playthrough.
And some things in the combat hud mod are pretty much pointless (e.g. numerical health values are nice, but there is absolutely no need for them) or cheating (e.g. detailed enemy stats).
There are 2 mods i like: More hotbar slots and helmet hiding. But neither of them is a must have.
Skill tree mods are generally interesting, but those are very much on a personal interest level.
Mana bow is a nice light weight "crutch" mod that gives you a bow you can use mana to fire.
Improved map and improved combat drastically change the way the game is played. If you end up disliking needing to find yourself on the map with a bit of guess work and land marks or find the combats strict nature is too much for you then I'd try them, I really suggest starting without them though to get a feel for those systems.
this is how i am with ALL fallout games even more so with fallout 4 (tho i replayed it many times i never would trouch with with out mods as bad as the games are with out them or the protection u get from said mods or make the game more beautiful then anything.
Hell yeah ive grown to enjoy mods so much because they focus a lot on QoL improvements that its to good to put aside even for the first play through , ive done for so many games and i have not regretted at all going full in with mods from the very beginning but again it has to be just the right ones
so i lobe beautifying mods and all in genral high photo real texture mods and NPC mods that make the NPCS look normal Bethesda could not make a good looking NPC if it killed them or a world for that matter.. (i use simmer mods and bloom mods in skyrim. sadly it shows how bad they really r since fallout 76 cam out and how lame/ boaring there games are with out hard working mods that kept the games running and looking great. (ie unofficial repair mods) but love weapon and armor mods theres the best.
i also used mods in dead iland and there sister game dying light that looks and feels better... to make the weapons last longer and give u the ability to repair them inf
some games require mods to be even halfway enjoyable *cough* skyrim *cough* or in order to fix serious bugs and glitches.
but there is also games that simply dont need mods and should atleast be played once without them at first time.
outward really isnt a game that requires mods tbh. its well made overall. for an indie title its quality is kinda insane almost. now improveing the graphics is one thing i always get.
there is no downside to it and some people care alot about the game simply looking better and thats really all the want.
but "mods" that flat out remove gameplay elements or provide unlimited carryweight and stuff like that? these arent mods. they also arent quality of life stuff either.
they are simply cheats. nothing more. nothing less. ill never get people who install such crap. may aswell use a trainer instead. less work to setup and results in the same thing.
