This is more of a survival game, than an rpg
Cold weather probably a little harder but rather than building campfires you could get by with crafting a torch and limit travel to during the daytime. Will most likely get sick this way but shouldn't have any problem reaching your destination.
Of course if you learn all the food, potion, and skill effects you could prepare things ahead of time and not have to worry about anything weather related.
That doesn't work when you arrive from going between regions and it's winter and already getting dark when you load in
Damn if only i had the space to carry two separate sets of armor along with my garbage and I could control what time it is when I get past the ps2 loading screen
I'm not sure but i don't think the time of day changes when you change the area. If you are that worried about ending up in a winter night when going to Chersonese just sleep until moring before going there.
Even so: Some cold resistance food/tea and the warm boon from spell or potion should be enough together with the passive +8 cold and heat resistance skill from the cabal hermit (it's a tier 2 skill, so everyone can get it for 100 silver). You can also make and carry a torch to give you some even more warmth.
If your gear doesn't have the appropriate weather resistances, carrying consumables to deal with weather conditions should be stock items in your inventory like a tent, water skins or heal potions. If you have mana it's only 0.6 total weight for a tea and some linen scrap (to make a torch, you can find wood everywhere), if you don't have mana, another 0.5 for the warm potion. That's always enough to get you to a safe spot. The only places i can think of where that isn't enough are 2 dungeons.
Edit: And another 10 cold weather defense for 3.0 weight is a fur helmet, or 5 cold weather defense for 1.0 weight with master trader boots or master trader hat or looter mask. No need for a full amor set. Imo you should always carry around master trader boots anyway, the option for 15% running speed for just 1.0 weight is way too convenient to miss out.
Found out about dev console later on, but a word of warning it's chock full of story spoilers.
