What we deduced is that it's best to make all 4 armors as they're pretty easy to make and very light. You can use mage armor as lantern and for casting healing spell on self.
Other armors are situational depending on what you need as they're pretty strong each for their own thing. You'll have to depend on alchemy and cooking A LOT.
Best trainers to take are: Shaman (for stronger boons thus more offense/defense), Mercenary to be fast troggy and Monk 40 stamina and master of motion.
Enjoy your Troggin'!
I have no idea what you're talking about here.
Ragged clothes (any trash body armor piece you can find laying around) + mushrooms (Blood Mushroom, Star Mushroom, Grilled Common Mushroom and Woolshroom).
Just drop Ragged clothes + one mushroom in crafting and press craft.

Edit:
THIS IS AMAZING!
At the top I would look at Hex Mage and Rogue Engineer. Hex Mage has Bloodlust and Lockwell's revelation, both of which are very helpful for low mana builds (which trog always is since there are only 2 spells they can cast) and for stacking damage with sanguine cleaver/crumbling anger (though for a straight damage build abomination enchant is better).
Rogue Engineer is probably even better though because you can still use pressure plate traps as a trog as usual, and feather dodge synergizes with acrobatics in the endgame.
All the hardest fights are going to be helped more by traps and more dodging than they'll be helped by 10% movespeed and cheaper sprinting.
