Refilling a specific lantern?

So I usually run with 2 lanterns so I can swap on the fly when one dies out, however the game seems incredibly picky about which one it refuels, not allowing me to pick which one I want to use. Is there any way to select a specific one other than dropping the second, or no?

Whichever lantern is lowest on fuel should be the one refilled. Instead of carrying around two lanterns you can do what I do, and simply carry around oil to refill it. I usually refill my lantern when it reaches around 25% of its durability, so It doesn't run out of fuel at a bad time. Also, oil is cheap. If you want to hang on to two lanterns and it's still refilling the wrong one, you can just drop the other lantern, and pick it back up once you have refilled the other.

Well I use flamethrower a lot and it burns through the durability, and im terrible at forgetting to turn them off when they are on my pack, which is why I carry 2, lol. I also keep oil to refill since I burn through it so much. Unfortunately, it doesn't select the lowest one =( I'll just have to keep dropping or holding the one i dont need to refill.

Near the end of the questline for the Blue Chamber you can get the Lantern of Souls which has infinite durability, so you never have to refill it. If you want it, you will only get the option as a reward if you do the optional objectives. The lantern also gives you 20% damage reduction from all magic while being held in the hand. This is just an option if the lanterns start to really bother you.

Where did you get that from? It has 20 Ethereal resist, and 10 Decay/Lightning/Frost/Fire resist.
