Spellblade/Warrior Monk/ ?
I have gone back and forth so many time on what I would like as my 3rd. Philosopher or Cabal Hermit. I have learned Reveal Soul f/ Cabal, which is very useful. Seems to me BT on philosopher would be a better build overall. Just wonder what others with the same choice ( Philosopher/Cabal) did for their 3rd BT point?

Can't go wrong with the Shaman breakthrough, it's probably one of the best in the game. If you need mana regen you could just use food anyways, the Philosopher breakthrough is only slightly stronger if you have a small mana pool. If you have the DLC there are a few enchantments that can cover it too.

What is your playstyle? With those 2 classes, I guess it's either a shield user with, infusions, melee atacks and gong strike; or you use infusions and elemental discharge before going mano a mano.
Philosopher is a class for two things: casting fire/ice with sigils, and chakrams as auxiliary. Check out this build: https://outward.gamepedia.com/Build:Blue_Kazite_Philosopher
Sahman is more flexible in this case, you can use wind infusion + elemental discharge or gong strike to knock enemies down, and conjure to get a ghost friend.
In the end you can definetly play around with both, and the choice is very personal.

"you use infusions and elemental discharge before going mano a mano." This is me...the 15 % damage boost from Affinity seems pretty good , no?

If not I will probably choose shaman. I keep thinking I will regret not having that damage boost
