Can't continue my save games and weird [LOC] bug
Every button shows [LOC] in front them and i'm not able to click the "Continue" Button.

New Game works oddly enough and adding my main character to a split-screen session proofs my savegames are still here.

Screenshot of the [LOC] Bug: www.dropbox.com/s/jba9n6xv8ydhs91/LOC.jpg

I also checked the data via steam if there are any errors.

What can i do?

Do you have a back up of your save? You shold do save back up after the end of every gaming session, by that I man go to the outward folder and copy the SaveGame folder to another location like your desktop just in case of bugs.

You could try enabling the dev console which allows you to load previous saves.

Also for doing it manually https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1699250248

Err that doesn't sound like a problem with your save file. That sounds like a problem with your game. Especially when looking at the screenshot. Maybe try verifying the integrity of you installation? Or is that what you meant by checking the data via steam?

Try something for me. I have been trying to reproduce this bug (i have failed so far). My working theory is that somehow you've stumbled onto a local multiplayer menu that isn't in use. Actually start a new game (back up your save file first if you're worried). Once in the game, hit "escape" and then click "stop split." If the "stop split" grays out, but the splitscreen does not end, you may have to manually quit with the second player (hopefully you have a controller you can hook up in that case). After that, quit to menu and see if it fixes the [LOC] bug.

I also have this same problem. When I first bought the game I played single player (on PC). Had no issues. Bought 2 controllers to play with my boy and thats the screen I got when we started it up. Didnt notice anything till we picked up the next day to find out we couldnt continue our game. When we played again I had to start a new character...get into game and then he could join and choose his old character to play as..with skills and gear he had. My guy i have to start from scratch every time.

[LOC] is also in the actual game before certain text. The compass up top..its [LOC] N,[LOC] S, ect. In the menu, its also before things that pop up on the lower left side, like journal entries and completing quests.

Have you tried reinstalling?
Ad'Nar Apr 21, 2019 @ 8:26am
Yeah Ive tried reinstalling. The [LOC] was still there but the continue button did work....but only the first time. I only got these problems when I hooked up the controllers. It must have to do with those, just not sure what or why.

This isn't a bug, it is a debug tool. It is there before you enabled the Debug and have enabled the option 'Debug Localization'. It is in the menu you pop with F2. You'll need to have loaded a character to display the menu.

Recently returned to this game hoping a few updates would help. unfortunately it didnt. Still have [LOC] problem and the worst is I cant click the continue button to continue any save games. The saves are in the save games folder but the game cant seem to access them or something. @Keos I only recently tried the debug tool hoping those manual saves would work but [LOC] is still there weather i take out the DEBUG.txt file or not.My kids and I love the game but having to start over every time kinda sucks.Any help would be appreciated. :steamhappy:

Ive tried multiple reinstall, Ive tried using the debug to make a manual save and still couldnt click continue. When I played this the first week everything worked and no [LOC] problem. I may have used debug to get unstuck around the same time I first plugged in a 360 controlled to play coop with my boy. After that the [LOC] bug happened and couldnt click continue so we always had to restart one character and all missions.(Because to character select you have to hit continue). Those are about all details I can remember. Maybe something in the registry from the debug console didnt go away? If so what and where should I delete from?

Just wanted to say thanks for this reply. It was, indeed, the answer. Disable 'Debug Localisation', restart the game and the [LOC] tags are gone. My kid had clicked on everything in the debug menu while I was away! Not sure why the later responses in this thread didn't pick it up, but hopefully this helps somebody.

I know this is old but i hope someone in need finds my words. The save game files are serialized, meaning that if computer A creates a save game folder, only computer A can load FROM that save game folder. Do the following to transfer the saves.

1. Open outward and create a character, this will create a new serialized folder for your machine (EG: WHERE THE SAVES ACTUALLY GO)
2. In the file that was just created copy paste the characters from your old computer in THERE
3. The game will only read game saves from the newly created game save folders, copies of this directory will not work.
