Can I do all of the faction intro quests without joining?

I noticed that some of them give some nice rewards but I'd rather not join one just yet. I'd like to travel around to the various factions to do these mini quests if I can and then join the one I want later

Talking about the ones where you have to impress one of three people in order to join. Was wondering if going down that road and completing one of those locks you in to the faction

I never did any faction quests myself but I do recall people saying you will KNOW when you're about to join, so you can go as far as that lets you, do note some quests will progress and start other quests, like the attack on Cierzo.

This isn't like Gothic with a ton of introductory quests for each faction to do before giving you the decision to join or not, there's just a short one with no rewards worth mentioning.
Joining a faction will lock you out of all the other faction's specific quests, however without joining a faction all of them are locked.

With that said there's no harm in going around to the various cities and finding out a bit more about the different factions, just don't expect to run into a ton of quests. Besides, a lot of quests that all factions can get are only unlocked once you've reached a certain point in the main story (i.e completing x amount of faction quests).

Boboscus is right. You're not locked into a faction until it prompts you with a "DO YOU WISH TO JOIN? ARE YOU ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN? THIS CAN'T BE UNDONE!"
