Saves on cloud?

I'm want to be sure that the game saves on cloud, or where are the saves located. Because I'm going to tinker a bit with a new hdd and I don't want to risk our characters.

Don't risk it, tried doing that lost my characters saves. They do not allow you to copy save files, they have systems in place that leads to you not being able to load your pasted save files.

Rubbish.

You just need to copy the SaveGames folder found in Outward folder. The file that contains your save will be something like 7455409xxx968 inside the save folder, just easier to copy the whole SaveGame folder though.

Inside the &76544350385xx folder you see a folder called Save_zF8DKzqQRk6PkHmJ-iuhlA or so... inside that are your saves and even what time they were saved (see pic) so if say you crash/bug out or w/e at 9:49 you can even try and go back by deleting the most recent folder.

Also if you enable the debug console I believe the continue button allows you to chose which save to load without manually having to delete anything.

there are no cloud saves, but you can get the save folder from the game directory. I just tried it and when you copy it into the same directory it works. Dont know how well this will work with patches. I can see cloud saves coming in the near future.

as i am traveling a lot, i switch a lot playing on my laptop during travel and my tower pc when i am at home.
Is it safe to copy / past the save as i want to continue my journey when i am traveling !

No, they're not cloud based.

They're also saved in a really stupid place (steam/steamapps/common/outward/savegames) so bare in mind... if you uninstall the game, you'll nuke your saves (which commonly doesn't happen when saved to localroaming etc).

Can't see an issue with copy/pasting an entire directory, the game pretends to have a dynamic save, but it doesn't. i.e. you can freely delete newest saves to revert or old saves to save space.

Confirmed that you can copy/paste save files. I've been doing this between a desktop and laptop for the past week. No issues, works great although I'd prefer cloud.

Call it rubbish if you want, come up with motive for me wanting to lie? I wanted to duplicate it as well but ended up screwed by it doing exactly when you just said. It worked a few times, until ultimately I couldn't access the saves, the menu wouldn't let you enter it.

There is a bug with not being able to load a char file, but it has nothing to do with copy/pasting or removing old saves, that's not how computers work.

Nor is there any super-secret-special code to check or prevent such things. The files aren't encrypted.

Sure, sure, you and that Danyel both the same. Both full of immense pride loving yourself for what you know, if you rather tell people they are wrong instead of entertain what you believe is correct, then you will never convince anyone otherwise, forcing you to waste time doubling down on your point. When you handle it in such a sloppy way no one is ever going to try to see things your way, you have a good point there Boink, I made the assumption that there were systems in place, assumptions made purely by basic observations of course it can't compete against a back ground in the field of computers.

However in the field of communicating with people you both are atrocious in, I hope for both your sakes you are only this terrible in handling people online on forums. "An argument is never won only lost by all participants, nobody can be convinced by telling them in the face that they are wrong. Better to guide them into changing their opinions rather than vulgarly use force", that's a lesson from the book How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. I implore both of you to read up and apply the lessons in the hope of enriching your lives and saving you hassle. You're just wrong and don't know what you are talking about. I am not saying you are lying just that your issue was probably a user error or some other problem.

Saves can sometimes become corrupted on crashes and various other problems, it has nothing to do with copy/pasting a save. The game has no special magical "anti copy/paste" code or problem like that.

That's why you should periodically make a back up of your save every x hours so if something does happen you don't lose all your progress.

Also if you lack the knowledge and know how just enable the debug console via simply adding a .txt file in the outbound folder which allows you to choose one of the various saves right from the games own "continue" button.

I get you are sensitive and a little salty about having encountered a bug and save game issue but what I have described works, has no issues and has been confirmed by others and is something that's done pretty much in every other single player game.

As for "our" communications we are not the ones with a problem and are not the ones that were trying to spread misinformation.

There's a difference between being confident and overly prideful...maybe you should take a good long look in the mirror before throwing accusation of that nature around and attacking two people giving accurate information and providing requested support to someone else. You're the one acting poorly because you're insulted you have been corrected and your misinformation was debunked.

A tip for you... in the future attack the argument not the posters...number one rule in communication with people. Seems like you have much more to learn then either of us here.

That's exactly my point the statement "Both full of immense pride loving yourself" is an over-exaggeration, a very childish one at that, the perfect example to showcase my point. The kind of response someone delivers when they get replied with another childishly petty comment such as "it's painful to watch". You can very easily identify how absurd other people act rudely but you can not see the implications that originally caused people to react that way in the first place.
