High Number of Items Causes Game to Freeze/Crash
Hey All,

After conferring with other players who've experienced this bug/issue it appears that the game will become unstable or crash if you have:
1) Too many items in your stash
or
2) Vendors have too many items in their inventory (aka you've sold them a ton of stuff)
or
3) Some combination of 1 and 2

The problem isn't as bad in solo but does build up over time resulting in longer load times that increase until eventually your come upon a load screen that never ends (waited 25 minutes recently with the load not finishing). In coop the problem gets to that point much faster. My coop partner and I tried completely emptying our stash and selling everything off and found that it still happened, which leads me to believe the problem isn't necessarily your stash, but rather the amount of items in the zone that weren't there originally.

e.g. The first time you visit a merchant they have a set item list, but each item you sell to them afterwards stays in their inventory as well. Eventually they end up with hundreds or thousands of items, which is what is going on in my game. I haven't tested to see if sleeping outside of the town for 7+ days resets them or not. Will update once I have done so.

Either way, from a gameplay perspective it's a major issue/bug since this game is all about hording items and ingredients to stay alive. The only way out of the load screens is to force quit the game. Hopefully the studio will fix this issue soon.

Very Respectfully,
ErikW

Experiencing exactly the same symptoms with a co-op game. As long as the host is a new character, no load problems. There is clearly something linked to save-game bloat and syncing.

Thanks for sharing your observations. Good to know it wasn't just something unique to us.
I just hit an infinite loading screen in single player...went and cleared out the bandit camp..on coming back to Cierzo I cannot enter..
Definitely matters a lot if you have 50+ jerky of unused conditions stacking up in your stash...

Remember this is not 1 item stacked 50 times, it's 50 individual item slots!

Get rid of your perishables!

You might think it's fine to keep a hoard of food, but I sold mine off and made thousands of silvers easily that I had weight issues.

Sell off everything you don't use. Literally.

And sleep 3 days to reset shops.
Ok clearance sale commerces

As I mentioned, there was almost nothing in the stash (used the calculator and added it all up to 36 items total) in the stash at all and the load problem was still happening. As an update, I tried sleeping outside for 8 days to see if I could "reset" the town. Didn't work, still causing issues even with nothing in the stash.

By any chance did you still have items in npc shops?

After resetting shops did you restart the game to clear the memory?

Yea, camped outside for another 8 days to see if it was something to do with stuff inside the city itself. Restarted computer and re-entered the city, same issue. Bad enough to the point that my wife and I just said "♥♥♥♥ it" and went to the desert lol Haven't had trouble there yet, so maybe it's a unique issue with Cierzo. Will see if load times change over the next several days of gameplay. Sadly, if it starts to fritz out even in a new city where we don't even have a house or stash yet then we're probably going to abandon the game.
How can I sell off stuff if I can’t get into the city? Lol

Strange I find that after some time my merchants drop off the extra items going back to their "normal" stock. Ive even noticed a silver increase on the merchants with the alchemist going up to over 6k silver after I sold her 100s of warm potions. So i figured that once the item dropped off their list the game would reimburse them in silver, at least thats what seems to be happening to me.
Really chappin me off..can't continue..unless I just abandon my stash in Cierzo..which has ALL my stuff.

But why should you have to do that..the game should be able to handle 50 items in a chest...
I've noticed severe slowdowns and long loadings, with huge stutter interacting with my stash. This seems to be accurate to the best of my knowledge, someone needs to report it to the devs.

I put in in the bug forum also, just posted it here so that people could see it if looking for info
