Lantern of souls? Whispering bones?

Can anyone confirm that this item is a reward from whispering bones quest and how exactly did you get it?
Ive completed the quest and no matter what option I choose at the end when Roland sacrifices himself the Lich that comes out of him just attacks me and I have to kill it.
When doing the quest from beginning did you Diss Roland when he fails at everything or you encourage him? Maybe that's into account on what the final outcome will be?

He didn't even appear as a lich for me. Nothing was there after he used his sword. Did you guys use an emerald? or did you use a ruby? I had him use a ruby because it was all I had on hand.

I also selected the don't screw this up option, so maybe he just said ♥♥♥♥ it, and didn't bother coming back as a lich.

I think Rissa gave me the lantern.

That's so stupid that you only get the resistance when you equip the lantern, they did not specify that either. I am a two-handed sword user, you will never see me holding any lanterns on my hand, so learning only now too late that I just gained nothing instead of 40 mana is really sad

yeah sadly can't do anything about it now. i was hoping that having it on the bag would count as equipped but it doesn't.

On my first playthrough in the blue collective, Roland survived as a lich, and I got the choice of rewards. Second time through, I did everything the same except I didn't rush in to save Roland from the green shell horror. To my surprise, Roland died at the end and I got the lantern. I guess you need to kill the green horror before Roland gets knocked out if you want the full rewards.

if you made sure that Roland will have confidence in his abilities (positive on the replies when speaking to him) at the end of the quest whispering bones will be friendly opting you for 2 rewards a skill (passive) or a lantern... got mine both of the rewards by reloading saves and using a dummy character
