Leather armour recipe missing an ingredient

Loving the game so far, however the leather armour recipe is showing that I need 2 hide and the other slot is just black and says 0 of 1, when I mouse over it says manual recipe.

Is this bugged or is it meant to be that I need to experiment to find it?

That slot needs to be filled with some basic armor. You are basically adding leather to existing clothing to make armor. So just stick some random tattered rags or your worker's shirt or whatever in that slot. Basically, take off your shirt then try it!
