Split Screen Controller Not Working
I'm trying to play split screen but when connecting the controller it controls player one. The mouse and keyboard also controls one meaning we are unable to control two (We are using a USB Xbox 1 controller if that means anything). I've been scrolling through the discussions board and I've only seen a "fix" where you add a text document to the "Outward_Data" file and name it "CONTROLLERP2.txt" added and still not working. if anyone has any information we'd really appreciate it.

-Thanks

Have you assigned the Player 2 controls in the setting menu? Mine were all unassigned.

@abadielperez
What OS do you use? Because I figured out something interesting. I have windows 8.1 on my PC and there is no way to get my gamepads work there but after trying everything I took my laptop with windows 10 and guess what.. my PS2 gamepads works fine.. without emulator or anything x_x
It doesnt resolve my problem at all because my pc is high end and laptop.. laptop is cheap sh*t :c

I'm having the same issue. I plugged a ps4 controller in and i'm using DS4Windows to make it work on my pc, but my controller controls both screens on split screen which makes it impossible to play with someone using keyboard and controller. haven't yet tried plugging a 2nd controller in. anyone know a fix for this yet?

On controller settings there should be two columns, left is player one, right is player two controller keys. Assign any missing keys.

I haven't tried playing keyboard + controller however, so I'm not sure if using one greys out the other in options.

If you're only using one controller, and want that to control player 2, the following should work.
"Add a txt file named "CONTROLLERP2.txt" in 'Outward_Data' which is Outward's install directory."
This forces all controllers to control player 2, and player 1 uses keyboard and mouse.

The solution posted by SquarelyCircle worked for me.

Is there a way to reverse this method? Like Player 1 uses the controller and Player 2 uses the keyboard and mouse?

The solution with ""CONTROLLERP2.txt" did not work for me at first. The problem was my Keypad (Nostromo 52). I pluged it out and see second player workes with controller (first player works with another controller and M/K). So if you have another keypads, wheels etc. pluged in, try to remove them and restart. good luck

Old topic but for me the reason of the issue was old gamepads. Not long ago I've bought PS4 and 2x dualshock 4 gamepads so I got a chance to try them on my PC.. and it works well now without any issues!

Is it possible to play with two gamepads? Without using a mouse and keyboard?
