How much mana to get?
Just got through the purple mountain to the mana dudes and I was curios what people thought was a good ammount of mana to get? I don't want to get so much that my HP and stamina are crippled for the rest of the game. Just looking to strike a decent balance.

Depends on what you're going for.

Spellblades don't need all that much (I'd stick with 2-3), or rather they need to have decent HP and stamina. OTOH, if you want to be a classical mage, you're gonna want a bit more (maybe even 6-7).

Do i have to sacrifice in one go, or can i first sacrifice a bit, then come back if i want more?

Start with small, 5% or 10%, I don't recommend getting over 15% reduction cause you don't have much to cast yet, and you have items to heal/recover your mana (Turmmip or Porridge). There are items that decreases mana cost and Passive Skills that Increases them

I take it you can come back to the mountains later and add more magic multiple time?

yes you can return at any time
Thx, will start low then, until i discover how usefull magic is.

Thanks for the quick feedback, I too shall start small to test it out. Not quite sure if I want to go full mage later on or not.

depend son what you wanna do. i know their is an armor and passive skill set that will completely negate mana cost, so going low is deffinitely a good option

antyhing that has a mana cost you need mana for obviously. As a warrior unless your looking for an offhand chakram or spell attack or just to use the runes, i wouldnt worry about getting it unless you wanna go for the spellsword trainer

yes, you can go back to the mountain and sacrifice more hp/stamina to get more mana. As far as I have seen, you cannot reduce your mana to get hp/stamina back. So assuming that is correct, go slow and only take a little mana and play with that for a while before you decide whether you need more mana or not.

For every build I would get 1-2 points initially (so you have ~20 max mana), simply so that you can cast all the boons you can learn (Warm, Cold, Lightning, etc.). They are very handy in the various environments (Winter, Heat in the Desert, etc) as well as they boost your elemental damage you do with epic weapons and weapon buffs.

If you decide to play a mage take more, but as others said you can always go back.

Some people have pointed out in that the endgame mage armor gives 100% mana reduction, so going for a lot of mana in general may not be optimal after all. But I haven't played a mage so I cannot say more about this.

best to only go +1~+2 with mana

later in the game you'll start to get armor with mana cost reduction, there's also a backpack with mana cost reduction, that'll be mostly what you'll be stacking if you want to use mana.
i've gotten up to 85% mana cost reduction as a caster but apparently you can get up to 100% cost reduction

also keep in mind there's 2 breakthrough skills you could get, one increases your mana by 40 and the other gives you mana regen at 0.15/sec

If you plan on using the Kazite Spellblade breakthrough skills, then you will need mana. Wild Hunter skills also require some mana.

I invested my breakthrough points in Warrior Monk, Mercenary and Wild Hunter to get the best max Stamina/Health combination I could find. It works out pretty well. Mercenary has 2 useful skills to save Stamina which you need to spend a breakthrough point to get.
