Edit: I also cleared to trog cave NW of the first bandits camp and the camp itself and then with an empty back pack I made a few runs to cash in on everything they dropped. I got lucky and found a merchant on the hill over looking the camp but he left after I cleared the trogs so it was an auto run hike to town while I got some coffee.
Last edit: this was after I went to berg and dropped 150 silver on two ranged skills, one being snipe. I couldn't have cleared the bandits without it.
thanks everyone, and wait you can auto run?! lol
It's the = key for me
Get a ton of move speed bonus and you run so fast you might as well use hit and run tactics with flintlock pistols and fast hitting weapons.
Also note that because you can run really fast, you can run up slopes before the momentum forces you to fall back down, meaning you can cheese enemy NPCs by running up steep rock face and getting over it, while they attempt to run up the rock face 6 times while being shot in the face by your pistol.
Now imagine the Master Trader Armor and Boots set, for the maximum speed bonus of ~55%... You will run so fast you will basically climb mountains.
I personally don't like it, but it's the safest/easiest way to get the gold you need to equip some decent armor (recommend the master trader armor set) and a good weapon and some training before you head out there seriously.
Mining is great too. Always pick every gab bush because it's good for free easy food and if you pick a beetle that's an easy 4 silver right there. They're also very useful for tea. The beetle you can get from mining is important to craft life potions.
Gemstones (mentioned above)
Hide
Mana Stones (6? 9? silver each) Mankitite or w/e from Mana Stone vein sells for 50s, do note the blue glowy shaman Trogs drop a staff that can be broken for 3 mana stones (it sells for 6s [staff], each stone sells for same or more).
Basic Equipment from bandits. 6s per weapon (more for good ones though might want to keep one for yourself)...also good for a stockpile of iron scrap for iron spikes (think my stash has like 100 of em, its stupid).
Some (not many) cooking recipes can increase the total value, though most break even or come out at a loss.
Sell materials you no longer have a need of. Ammonite sells for 10s each and isnt hard (it spawns on beaches), fish, azure shrimp (used in a good recipe though so personal opinion). Just make sure if you are selling it, its not a pain in the ass to get more of when you need it
Oh and not sure if you noticed it or not but 100s has 1.0kg weight, 1 bar of gold buys/sells for 100s and weighs in at .1kg (its nice having some money when you bump into a random merchant :P)
Check places you have cleared before after several days...im not sure what the respawn timer is but I know places will repopulate. The Ceirzo Storage repopulated for me (was just running to the beach) 2x Trogs and all.
This is a bit outside the scope of this topic but iv heard (havnt been myself) that bandits in the Swamp have shields that sell for 60s each if you want to try branching out somewhere else. Im personally finding new places to hack, slash and die my way through in Cheroesh as well as some interesting things to do. Like the little "puzzle" in Verendal Fortress (that one on the SW)...pull a ring, open the treasure room...or fall into Trog Infiltration (dungeon map). Still dunno what ring it is but I have successfully died once and havnt returned yet...got distracted doing Leyline (originally died to a bad fight and got taken to Ver Fort lol).
Oh and if you do decide to go Swamping or Marshing or w/e its actually called, do note its a warmer climate so Ammonite gear might cause overheating with +5 cold defense per piece.
Oh and just remembered (cause im a packrat it didnt dawn on me earlier) but the Alchemy potions sells decently well for early game and some come in 3x when crafting them (Life and Astral atleast do but im not selling HP/MP pots damnit!) So just poke the crafting recipe guide, see what you can whip up and hope you dont like it for personal use so you can sell it!
Whats the warming potion recipe? O_o the alchemist isnt selling it and its not on the guide of recipes..debating if training the infused weapon would be worth it but no recipe lol
Get several water skins so you have about three total and put a fireplace down next to the water purifier in town. Set up an alchemist station on top of the fireplace and just leave it there.
The recipe is 1x Water 1x Thick Oil, and it will brew three potions that sell for four silver each. That means each Thick Oil is worth TWELVE silver. You buy them from the traders for I think two silver each. That means a ten silver profit for each oil. It's insanely easy money but it's boring.
I actually detailed and showed some locations in my video, remember that you can also skip paying the debt by saving the sailor so you save 150 Silver
