Making Fire and Cold stones?

Why is it that one blue sand and a mana stone in the alchemy kit makes 3 cold stones but one oil and one mana stone only makes one fire stone? Is fire magic that much stronger than ice magic?

Blue sand is much more rare than thick oil. thick oil can be bought for cheap from many vendors.

Yea you can't buy it but they are easy to get a hold of just go to the shores at night in the starting area and the cave and I had 14 my first run. That and ice witches are a common enough enemy and they drop cold stones half the time. But I've discovered fire stones are just far more useful than cold stones Put one in your pressure plate trap and boom massive damage and burning status. That and a palladum spike trap wrecks everything I've come across so far.
