I heard you can be an Assassin?
Does this come with any kind of stealth gameplay and it is difficult to get? Can anyone describe their experience with this class?

Haven't played it but you can sneak/turn off your lantern to remain in stealth. There are also stealth potions and a backstab ability you learn in Vendavel Fortress. I think it works like KCD where you use your dagger/shiv while sneaking up on someone. Also poison weapons and traps.

Any word on the class abilities?

There are no classes per se, just specilisations (up to 3). Your abilities are largly based on the equipment you use and the money you put into trainers.

I've been doing a lot of night ambushes on bandits early into this game. My basic strategy was to fire an arrow or two and then vanish into cover. You can easily keep repeating this and stealth kill enemies like that.

Aren't the trainers specialised though? So if i wanted to focus on being stealthy, perhaps lower my presence or increase my critical backstabs (just imagining here), is there nothing like that?

There is a rogue trainer teaching you dagger skills in the desert, also things like rolling with your backpack at normal speed. I don't know anything else really.

There isn't a stealth gameplay mechanic that is worth your time. I like the game, but if your looking for skyrim or dishonored this isn't it. Yes there is a backstab, but its awful and in my opinion a gimick. Combat is about blocking and dodging sort of like dark souls but much worse.

I think you could play an assassin, but it would take alot of meta knowledge and "gaming" the gameplay.

Just my opinion but the above reviews are rose colored.

yes, the rogue trainer will teach you better stealth and a proper backstab. don´t worry about it, if you want to do it, just do it. there´s even potions and other stuff that make stealth better. check out the merc trainer too. he also has some pretty ninja skills
destroyermaker Mar 28, 2019 @ 2:50pm
Where's the merc trainer?

Nice, thanks for the feedback.

You don't have to go to Levant to get the Backstab skill.

When your attacking that bandit fortress in Chersonese, to the far south east of Cierzo near the middle of the south part of the map (it starts with a V, not on that map at the moment, so I don't know its full name, it's the one with the 3 Warlords though), if you get defeated, you get captured by the bandits and get put to work in the mines.

One of the women there teaches you Backstab for free, if you build her a Shiv, which is super easy to do with the items in the mines. Escaping from the mines is super easy, too.

I've heard movement boosting gear + backstab is legit. I'm going to try that.

So i was looking through the skills posted here to figure out what i'd want to work towards.

Seems like a Monk+Rogue would be perfect. Applies Pain for a damage multiplier for two status ailments, as well as Backstab and lower presence. Even has two parry options. All exactly what i was thinking about. Only thing missing i'd say would be "Cat Eyes" which obviously lets u see in the dark. There is one drawback where i can't seem to find a good way to apply Confusion. They all require a shield or 2h weapon and that conflicts with having a dagger. I could maybe combine this with Spellblade and just weapon swap shield+dagger.

I listed the particular skills i'd choose below;

Galira, Warrior Monk Skill Trainer: Unlocked Skills
============================================
Brace (Active)
Blocks an attack, restoring your Stability, and granting the "Discipline" boon.
All nearby enemies are knocked back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Slow Metabolism (Passive)
It takes more time for you to become Hungry, Thirsty, or Sleepy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Steadfast Ascetic (Passive)
Increases your maximum stamina by 40.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Perfect Strike (Active, Weapon Skill, cannot unlock if you choose Master of Motion)
Requires "Discipline" boon.
Lunging attack that ignores all defenses, and inflicts Pain.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Counterstrike (Active, Weapon Skill, cannot unlock if you choose Flash Onslaught)
Completely block a physical attack, striking the attacker and dealing high damage.

Styx, Rogue Skill Trainer: Unlocked Skills
============================================
Backstab (Active, Dagger Skill):
If the attack hits the enemy's back, the damage and impact are tripled.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Opportunist Stab (Active, Dagger Skill)
If the enemy has Pain, or Confusion hex, this attack's damage and knockback are doubled. If it has both, they are quadrupled instead.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Feather Dodge (Passive, best skill in the game)
Lowers the stamina cost of dodging by 50%, and allows you to dodge unimpeded even when wearing a backpack.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Serpent's Parry (Active, Dagger Skill)
Counter a physical attack with a strong dagger strike.
Targets afflicted by Confusion are briefly Stunned.
Targets afflicted by Pain will be inflicted with Extreme Bleeding.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stealth Training (Passive, cannot unlock if you choose Pressure Plate Expertise)
Enemies will have a harder time spotting you. Sprinting and having a light source will still easily alert them though.

there´s a 1-hand axe skill that applies confusion. you can learn it in the first town from the guy next to the spellblade teacher.

Talus Cleaver (Active, One-Handed Axe Skill)
Low blow that reduces the target's mobility. Inflicts Pain, and Cripple.

This one? I think you meant this one;

Pommel Counter (Active, Two-Handed Sword Skill)
Counter an attack with a high impact strike using the sword's pommel. Inflicts Confusion, and can chain into melee attacks.
