might also try the reliability monitor. in windows search run
perfmon /rel
the red x's and yellow !'s might be related issues.
Nope, nothing is showing up in the WIndows Event Viewer. I will give the other suggestion a try though! Thanks.
Edit: Did a bit of digging and found this: https://gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/166929/unity-windows-build-crashing-due-to-access-violation-error
Apparently it's caused by having the Citrix application installed (which I do)...My hunch is that the main branch is still on Unity 5.6 which has issues with Citrix, while the experimental has upgraded to Unity 2018 - maybe that explains the crash and why experimental works. However I'll need Citrix for work so it'll be great if anyone has any suggestions.
Probably why. I ended up uninstalling Citrix because it was making another game that I have not load (My Time in Portia). I honestly didn't think about it possibly effecting this game as well. I haven't tried the non-beta version since.
It definitely worked for me when I ran the beta version though, and that was before Citrix was uninstalled.
My wife uses it for work as well, especially now that she has to work from home for a month with the lockdown. Fortunately we have three computers in the house and it doesn't need to be on mine.
I uninstalled Citrix completely and restarted my machine then was able to launch Outward successfully. I have now reinstalled Citrix and Outward continues to launch without error. May just be a first launch setup thing?
Nice info! However I've already enabled the experimental branch too as I saw it has lots of good improvements, so I can't test that. Might help others though!
Good to know!
