which they are not.
compare it the iron sword, the machete, etc. ..makes probably more sense than comparing it to an upgrade recipe for starter weapons....
EDIT:
just to clarfy: i'm not against the idea and for all i cear the numbers can stay the same, but seeing how the mana/stamina issue gets addressed (somewhat), it looks like the Devs care about some balance (although the game is far from it)...
i just don't see the point in any base weapon when you can find an uber dagger within the first 20mins of playtime.
Dagger and machete aren't that much different in size and shapes..
but there's serpents parry, why not maximize it also with counter attack of monk skill?, yes core system. that you can vanish and may omnislash using a halberd, axe, hachet, sword, how to? i mean i still make sense right? using a dagger and able to pull those cool moves, but it's just my thing, i know it isn't practical, but it's role playing game, and i like to be a rogue/ninja/assassin, i think it's not bad to restrict what is possible right? i mean if you hover on those skills on monk it says that ANY melee weapon, a dagger is a melee weapon. i dont know it's just my thing. it's like a sword in the right and a dagger on the left. why not double sword, i know it may ruin the core mechanics, but it will be fun and more challenging, and cool. haha. but thanks for the comment sir. :) i appreciate it, if ever this will not happen. maybe a katana in the future? and a scabbard to put it on? because sword are just floating in the waist of our character. which can provide more visual. :D
I think there is a problem with your fighting style, then, you're trying to use daggers as swords. My dagger attacks always hit, and I'm not talking about the fancy ones from the desert, but the starting slash skill. I fought people with a shiv dagger and killed them.
What I always do is to approach them through the left flank then when they're going to hit instead of rolling to dodge I hold the button to run until I'm out of the range of the attack and run back in the range to hit with the dagger. It has been a successful strategy for everything except pole arms since they hit the flanks too.
