Change your ugly face

I was poking around the saved game directory, because I lost items...a different rant, and realized the files ending in "c" (envc, charc, etc.) in there are gzip'd xml.

In "Char0.charc" for example there is a section like the following. Your appearance can be changed if you made a mistake on which face was least ugly at the start.

    <VisualData>
      <Gender>Female</Gender>
      <HairStyleIndex>2</HairStyleIndex>
      <HairColorIndex>9</HairColorIndex>
      <SkinIndex>0</SkinIndex>
      <HeadVariationIndex>3</HeadVariationIndex>
    </VisualData>

Editing that file and re-compressing changed my appearance in the game. The numbers in the file are zero based and the choices in the game start with 1, so subtract one from your game choice when you edit the file.

Make sure you back up your original file before modifying it. Not sure I'd mess with gender transformations. I haven't noticed anything gender specific in the game but that's the kind of thing that could break a quest.

how do you edit the file though? i open it with notepad and i only see symbols

Open "Char0.charc" with either 7z ̶o̶r̶ ̶W̶i̶n̶R̶a̶r̶ and extract the "Char0" file.

Open the "Char0" file with Notepad++

Edit as desired.

Save "char0" in Notepadd++

Drag and drop "char0" back into "Char0.charc"

Edit: Only 7z works

This doesn't work. You can't add the char0 file back into char0.charc as winrar only lets you add to .rar or .zip archives.

why dont they fix the faces, its the worst ive ever seen in any mmo ive played.
I can play Elder Scrolls and the graphics is great and can run on a 1 gig gaming card , so no excuse Outward.

right, its like all that hype on undertale. But the graphics were so bad in that its like only one person made the game.

1st it's not an MMO, 2nd Skyrim's characters are hideous in comparison to their budget. So really, both games are in the same boat character wise.
