Stereo mix is now enabled but I still get the same problem... Windows 8.1
done all of that and still nothing ;(
Im kinda pissed, ive done every possible fix I can find...
Go to you're Call Of Duty 4 Directory. Should be located here.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Call of Duty 4"
Or in other cases it could be located here as well.
"C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Call of Duty 4"
Or you probably saved it somewhere else on the HDD. Either way once you are in the folder you notice a folder called PB. Backup or delete everything inside the PB folder. Most likely delete since it won't be no longer needed.
Download the updated Punk Buster release and move everything inside that folder after extraction.
Not done yet, now go and download these files and extract and move everything in it as well.

And for just in case reasons. Here a photo to allow you to know what the PB folder should look like after you move everything in it.

Once that is done. Click on Punkbuster or known as pbsetup.exe. And then click "I Agree" Then click on Update PunkBuster. Of course updating it should not be needed. But its best to check just in case.
After that exit out and you are finish. Try going online and then refresh the master server once. And it should allow you to see the servers once again.
Edit:
If this at all fails to help. Try deleting the Call Of Duty 4 folder. Then delete the file on steam. And then redownload it. This could possibly fix the issue as well.
Edit:
My bad I realize that you can't load pass the loading screen. My bad JSG. But I have a feeling once you do get the online mode working. You need to update Punk Buster to play. Either way try making yourself administrator. Go to the directorys as I've mention above. And right click on "iw3sp.exe" and then go to properties. Click on the tab that says compatiblity then put it on Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and then check Administrator. Click apply then right click on "iw3mp.exe" And do the same steps. Do hope this fixes the issue.
Thanks for the info! I got it working :)
Is this problem something new? The MP worked alright at my laptop 1 month ago. Now Im trying to play in my new pc and nothing.
pls answer
Howdy, Steam removed those files - anywhere else that I can find them?
I think it's in options under sound once the game gets started - should be accessible form single player menu too.
