Just check every sixth letter of each column, (or line, Idk what does it look like in the Eng version)
In Chinese, the four characters mean "I am not dead and I'm hiding in the east."

Actually, it depends what language you play in. If in English, you must first remove the first and last lines. That leaves you with four paragraphs. Use the birthday numbers in the right order to find the right word in each paragraph.

I just completed this puzzle, and, well... shouldn't it be not dead hiding west? The solution the game gives and the one given by [CPC]Plissken above would mean one birthday number is used twice. I feel this is a mistake. I had to arrive at the answer the game wanted by trial and error.

It took me a while. The secret in the end is to use the month first, not the day and the mothers birth date first. You use all four paragraphs in turn. Exactly as Fruits said.
