Are the DLC characters good?
I'm playing over on gamespass and enjoying but I'm wondering about dipping on the game so I can get those two other characters... if they're worth it, that is?

On switch I don't have them and I try to know how to have them

they have their ups and downs, the one has six hearts and loses one each level, but can fly for free once he has no hearts, and can see item descriptions, a great devil run character since you can load up on shields and just give away hearts like it's nothing, the other is a girl with a pure melee alt that's very useful for mobility and basically acts like a free second jump

"[Amir] a great devil run character"

that's what I thought, but finally it's a trap.
You can get one devil deal per level, no more. And if you do, it takes only 3 levels to lose your 6 hearts. So you only get for sure 3 devil deal (like most of characters actually) when Anna and Saya can get 4.

Plus, other characters can get hearts back along the run with items, when Amir is forced to lose it all. And it's pretty hard to clear last levels with only few shields...

For me, Amir is only good for beginners who struggle with items, but next I dont see the point to pick him... ability to fly isn't so rare to get, and his heart curse is a tough handicap.

And you can do the same with every hero. I still dont see the point with Amir.
If you want to "freely give up hearts" you can do it with every hero, at the end you come to 0 heart at level 4 exactly the same way. And you dont have more devil deals.

Do the maths.

except you are wrong, amir starts with 6 hearts so by level 4 if you've had a devil deal each level you still have hearts, not to mention by that point you should have encountered items that give more hearts or started stacking shields

though having hearts doesn't matter since devil deals take shields when you have no more hearts

I didn't included items who give hearts, because again, every hero can get those too.
You're saying Amir is "good" for Devil deals, I'm saying he may be the worst.

So you start 6. First floor you go devil deal : you have 5. You go 2nd floor : you have 4.
2nd floor devil deal : you have 3. You go 3rd floor : you have 2.
3rd floor devil deal : you have 1. You go 4th floor : you have 0.

You did 3 devil deal. You have 0 heart at floor 4.
Do the same with Anna, you still have one heart to spend.

Please correct me if i'm wrong, but with maths.

you are wrong because at that point the devil deal takes shields not hearts, hearts do not matter, the game showers you in shields meaning you can continue to get devil deals even without needing to get items which give you hearts, and his "lose one heart each level" is effectively null with how many shields the game gives you

"And it's pretty hard to clear last levels with only few shields"

though with you not knowing what you're doing, doesn't surprise me you can't play amir

So anyway I tried the sword girl and she's pretty good fun! I suspect with the right drops she'll become an absolute monster.

Haven't tried the other DLC guy because I'm probably too much of a scrub

lol

You're talking about general mechanics, there is no point with Amir.
Every hero can do what you're sayin, and I explained why they do it better.

If you only search for conflict and refuse to see logic, I can't help.

I just shared my experience cause I did the same mistake, but you are a big boy. ;)

nah, they each have thier own unique paths to success, the sword girl is good mobility early on, definitely a favorite, amir just takes some doing, you'll pick them all up in no time

After 50 hours of playing Neon Abyss and beated abyss difficulty and unlocked every char. I can say the dlc char. Saya (girl with sword) is the most valuable character.
You're moving faster with sword, you can dodge and attack with sword, you can get a lot of money by killing little green flies with sword and you can reach many areas and she has 4 HP which is really great to get started with her.
