cursed athena/ares advice

Ok so I always get to the boss and then I get destroyed in about 30 seconds. Anyone who has beaten them before, what is a good character and set up to destroy them?

I don't think characters matter that much. Damage is the most important in my opinion. But if you're having trouble, don't start with R-6 or Amir.

- I suggest you do every challenge room, for extra badges.

- Full clear every floor, you'll never know what items / guns you'll find or extra money

- Some guns can be very helpful like Animosity for example. Find a gun you feel more comfortable with and stick with it until the end.

- This might not be for everyone but I often buy Popcorn from the statue before starting a run. While the item is very dangerous, it helps you a lot. You won't need bombs and you can get a lot of money by exploding stuff. Use the money to buy more items and shields from shops.

So do I focus on getting damage in every once in a while or do I get max hearts or shields and tank it?

Focus on both if you can because:
There's another boss after cursed Athena/Ares. Now I don't remember if this boss unlocks immediately after your first cursed Athena/Ares win, but you should probably prepare just in case.
