Picking up a new harvester header
Do I have to drive my slowass harvester all the way to the shop to grab and bring a new header back from the shop?

I can attach a header trailer to my pickup truck, but cant load the header onto the trailer without a harvester anyway, so whats the point of having a trailer?

Yes. Unless you get modded tools for front loaders, wheel loaders etc. that allow attaching a header for easier handling.

Header trailers can be towed by almost any vehicle, but they are usually meant to be towed directly by the harvester. With the trailer in tow, the harvester can carry its own header wherever it needs to go.

Even easier http://www.farmingsimulator19mods.com/store-deliveries-v1-0-0-0-fs19/ for a small fee the store will bring it to you.

Well, to put it another way: mount the header you would most like to use on your favorite harvester, I personally don't go for anything under 12 meters, and then drive it around to the various points of the map either working your fields or hustling contracts, then get back to us and let us know how that worked for you.

Make sure you bring your chainsaw.

When you get to the big boys you can get the header with a built in trailer. They have wheels and a hitch so that they can be towed without any extra trailer needed.

Looks like a reskin of the ones already in the game, so nothing new.

Thanks for all the contribuitions. Since you can pull a header trailer with a pickup truck, I thought it would make a lot of sense to use a pickup with a trailer to drive the thing around to harvesters. Kindda sad you need a harvester to load/unload it though.

It can be annoying if you have to switch headers on the trailer, yes. But if you get a separate trailer for each header you own, you only have to go through this once for each header. After that, it will either be close to a harvester or not in use, anyway, so it really no longer matters.

Besides, it can still make sense to tow header trailers with a pickup.
E.g. your harvester is towing one trailer, but you want to harvest different types of crop. In that case, you might need a different header, which can be brought in via pickup truck.

Other options would be to look for headers with integrated trailers (like the 45ft draper and the 9m Rostselmash headers already in the game or similar mods; see in previous posts). If they're sold in transport mode, you can easily move them with any vehicle that can tow the trailer.

Another option would be looking for modded folding headers. You do need to use the harvester to move these, but they usually fold down to about the same width as the harvester, and you can still use the towing hitch to tow a header trailer with a different type of header than the folding one. In this case, your combine can potentially harvest any standard crop types in one go, because you can carry both a normal header as well as a corn header, for example.

it will cost you a little bit of cash, but you can lease a small harvester to load a header onto a trailer, then use your pickup to tow it back. you don't have to lease the same harvester you own, any header *should* fit on any harvester, I have not tried all the combinations so I can't guarantee it will work though.
otherwise, you can just reset your harvester and it will be at the store for you.
You can also reset your harvester so it reappears at the store. That way, you only have to drive it back.

You reset a vehicle by clicking its dot on the map, and at the bottom, it will say "Reset".

Somebody who had never played the game would get the impression that we were talking about drive distances that couldn't be accomplished in approximately ninety seconds.

90 seconds of a drive at 25kph might be acceptable to you, but you shouldn't consider what's acceptable to you as acceptable to everyone else. Nowadays, I'm totally against games with silly tasks that only use up your time. Thank god for being able to hire workers at least.
