fishing rod ingredients

So me and my brother are now on the quest in the icy mountain area and neither of us has a fishing rod yet. I'm guessing we should have stumbled upon the ingredients by now if we weren't so unlucky?

The line comes from bush monsters. The wood comes from floating mask monsters found in the 3rd dungeon.

Yes I got one now. But I don't think one should be almost through the ice mountain before they get it. Beat the lava dungeon pretty fast I admit but the one mask guy we killed did not drop one originally. We still need another and if luck goes the same way we will go through the entire dungeon once without getting one. It would be nice if there was a mask guy or two somewhere through the red forest area. The fishing rod doesn't grant passage to any new area so I felt it was expected we would have gotten it easily in the lava area but this was not the case. Still easier than the zap cores were before though.

One of the legendary fish is acquired from the ice mountain, so gaining the rod earlier would be pointless anyway.

I've had the fishing rod quest since literally after my first trip into the first dungeon. That's pointless. I just dropped 30k gems on upgrades had to run back to an area I have already beaten and scoured through just to grab one ingredient from in the dungeon, only to then realize fishing is a typical little mini game thing, and that's alright but I suck at these types of things and have almost no gems. I am now going to have to go back into a dungeon again just to get gems to upgrade the rod so I can catch these fish. I had to spend so much time redoing the first dungeon to get zap cores that the third dungeon was so quick and easy I didn't get what I needed. That doesn't sound like the experience the devs intended.

I caught all 3 legendary fish without upgrading the rod at all. You don't need the upgrades. I think the upgrades are only there for people that find the fishing to difficult.

Considering how unimportant the rod is to the game, & how the final fish can't be caught till you enter the snowy area, I don't see why they didn't just give you the rod for free as a thank you for fixing the dock. That way you could aim for the swamp fish & lava fish as you get to those regions, or just before you leave them.
It's not like you can unlock the pirate till the snowy area anyway.. (unless you know how to get there before the 1st dungeon like me, hehe)

That's how getting the shovel was for me. But I know they rebalanced that according to one of the patches. Loving this game though.
