Edit: nvm, found it
Unlike here which acts like a forum, with individual topics that you can post, each with posts from the community discussing the topic at hand. Discord seems like a group chat with hundreds of people that you stumble into mid-conversation. You can't find anything useful unless you are prepared to read through millions of previous messages (and even then you might not find what you are looking for). Everytime you post something it feels like you are constantly changing the conversation, being rude & interupting the previous post. It often get's lost in a sea of people all shouting their questions and opinions. Discord may be a great alternative to a group messenger like MSN or Skype or Facebook, for a small community or group of friends to chat amongst themselves. But Discord seems like a really bad alternative to a forum. The more people that join & post into the group chat that is Discord, the harder it get's to track what's going on. Unless you guys get your own dedicated forum on your website for people to talk about the game, you are going to find people looking for Switch help keep coming here.
I know you really want to keep this place for Steam specific posts, but Discord is just not a good alternative. Steam Community & Discord are just to different in how people can communicate.
Everytime I see people ask a Switch related question here that results in a Developer sending them to Discord, it kinda feels like you are just pushing them away, to an inferior social experience that will have more often than not less useful results.
It's pretty rare that someone asks a question here about the Switch version that doesn't also in someway relate to the Steam version. Would it really be such a bad thing to do what you do with Steam questions & either ignore or answer it rather than sending them away to Discord. I know you said you are a really small team anyway, so surely Steam's forum like posting system is just eaiser for you guys to keep in touch & respond to than Discord anyway.
Maybe this is a me problem & I am just to old to understand how Discord works. I'm really not that old, but Discord makes me feel old. It's just from first glance at Discord, it is a group chat with to many people in it. Useless for finding info or asking questions. Forums are better for finding info or asking questions. Steam Community is a forum or at least looks like what I think a forum is. You do not have a dedicated forum for the game as a whole or a forum specific to the Switch, so I and many other Switch users will keep being drawn to the Steam forum.
Hey there,
I know it looks like we're trying to herd away Switch players here, but that's purely because this is a Steam forum and per their ToS this space is only to be used to discuss the Steam version of the game.
We're not trying to usher Switch players to the Shadow Realm, but instead offer them a meaningful alternative where they can still get their questions answered and chat with the wider Rogue Heroes community.
Just respecting our hosts here on Steam whilst offering a home for everyone on Discord :)
We've been posting about the Switch patch progress in the #announcements channel whenever we have any new news. Should come very soon. :)
