[SPOILERS] How are the other titels in the Ace Attorney series?
I really enjoyed this triology and what to ask how are the other games, I didn't hear that much
about them.
Should I play the other too? I mean, Phoenix and Mayas story are complete and we can move on. After Bridge to the Turnabout, there isn't much left. I not exactly know what happend to them, those verdicts don't tell the sort of punishment they get.
Iris and Pheonix are a good couple. They couldn't mess all these things up.

So, should I play these other games? (Is this other guy really called Mr. Justice? Isn't that a tad cringe?)

- Main Series -

Apollo Justice: I don't really understand why this game is considered lesser than the others. I think it's solid. Apollo is also a great character, just as good as Phoenix IMO.
Phoenix is basically just manipulating Apollo to do his dirty work, and in turn steals the spotlight. That last case also just jumps the shark with The Mason System.

Basically, Apollo wasn't given room to be fleshed out for many, as the game wound up being all about Phoenix Wright again, which isnt a good look for a game named after a newbie.
Yeah, that's mostly thanks to Capcom IIRC. This is only what I've read from a bunch of places over the years but apparently Takumi wanted to end the series after T&T however Capcom wanted more games. So he tried to make a game featuring a new cast and Capcom kept pushing him to include Phoenix more and more until he eventually took the spotlight again.

Edit: No excuse for the final bit of the last case tho. That just screamed "deus ex machina".

So how come Phoenix gets a free pass from having a "cringey" last name?
Is it become he's not actually Wright all the time? I don't know, just stop using cheap blanket terms to describe something you slightly dislike. Don't forget that the characters in the Ace Attorney universe usually have punny names in general.

So anyway, I much recommend playing the Investigation games if you like Miles Edgeworth.
It sucks that Capcom never localised the second one but there's a really good fan translation for it.
Haven't played Apollo Justice or the two new Ace Attorney games yet so I can't really say if they're good or not but take note that they take place 7-8 years after the events of the original trilogy and the Investigation games.

That first paragraph is all fine, if you ask me. Chessmaster Phoenix is amazing and he should have stayed that way.

Glad we can agree on something. Throwing away Phoenix Wright's character development is easily one of the worst things Dual Destinies did.

"Just got his badge back"? Yeah right! That doesn't excuse him going from pro to dummy in the space of one year.

I imagine what they were thinking when they wrote the story for Apollo Justice was "Okay, we just took away Phoenix Wright's badge, that's sure to upset people. So let's make sure he gets a good send off and then we can put more focus on Apollo in the next game."

Giving Phoenix Wright his badge back of course, ruined that. Thank you Spirit of Justice for cleaning up that mess.

I think an easy workaround would've been to keep that outward appearance, but his inerr thoughts are the same old him.

No, he was originally to be a new character entirely, then Capcom had people put Phoenix back into AJ, so they just repurposed that new character into Phoenix. And then Phoenix getting his badge back was the next obvious step, especially after AJ got horrible reception, which is fine by itself. It's just that his character regresses from how it was in T&T in DD, which is a problem.

If you want the writing quality of the original AA trilogy, you need to play Ghost Trick, period. Nothing that comes after is nearly as good.

Apollo Justice is a mess of a game, the plot is clearly mangled by corporate meddling.

Dual Destinies is good. Worth a play, but at this point it's now a formula, so it goes hard on spectacle and doesn't have the pathos of the first games. The good stuff is good, there's very little bad stuff, but the great stuff is very rare.

Spirit of Justice is about the same, but it goes SO HARD chasing that pathos it overdoes it in really great ways and really stupid ways.

Investigations is good. Investigations 2 is better.

DGS is a setup they couldn't finish in one game so it's good but you need the sequel to finish the story.

Its his American name for stupid usa children. Japanese name ofc just as funny but implies different meaning. But that name fits him better as he indeed always digest any case related info as a stupid head bobling doll.

I'd say if they release more Ace Attorney they should do it with a new lawyer and universe. Maybe make it even more serious. Kinda like Advance Wars: Days of Ruin.
Oh, you mean the game that killed Advance Wars?
Redblaze27 23. aug. 2019 kl. 22.56
Pretty sure Apollo isnt written out at all. The next game can be set a few years later with his return in some form.

I don't know about that. Giving Phoenix his badge back felt like the writers were chickening out of a bold move.

Changing the main protagonist also felt like the only way to keep the franchise fresh.

Now, what are Capcom going to do when Phoenix gets too old? He gets older with every game.

It is possible to do both, you know?

Gonna disagree with AJ. Investigations 2 is far better than the trilogy if you ask me (and most of the fanbase for that matter). And DGS was actually initially planned to finish its story in multiple games.

Since the thread was already necroed, does Phoenix stop asking dumb questions and acting like if he has a goldfish memory in later games? Since he is older and probably has more experience, I assume he would start to act like Mia, Godot or even Edgeworth with more confidence and balls.
Some of the questions he asked and some statements almost made me facepalm through the roof.

Nope! He remains an idiot in later games. You can thank Dual Destinies for that.

In Apollo Justice, he's calm, collected, and calculating.
