Edit: No excuse for the final bit of the last case tho. That just screamed "deus ex machina".
Is it become he's not actually Wright all the time? I don't know, just stop using cheap blanket terms to describe something you slightly dislike. Don't forget that the characters in the Ace Attorney universe usually have punny names in general.
So anyway, I much recommend playing the Investigation games if you like Miles Edgeworth.
It sucks that Capcom never localised the second one but there's a really good fan translation for it.
Haven't played Apollo Justice or the two new Ace Attorney games yet so I can't really say if they're good or not but take note that they take place 7-8 years after the events of the original trilogy and the Investigation games.
Glad we can agree on something. Throwing away Phoenix Wright's character development is easily one of the worst things Dual Destinies did.
"Just got his badge back"? Yeah right! That doesn't excuse him going from pro to dummy in the space of one year.
I imagine what they were thinking when they wrote the story for Apollo Justice was "Okay, we just took away Phoenix Wright's badge, that's sure to upset people. So let's make sure he gets a good send off and then we can put more focus on Apollo in the next game."
Giving Phoenix Wright his badge back of course, ruined that. Thank you Spirit of Justice for cleaning up that mess.
Apollo Justice is a mess of a game, the plot is clearly mangled by corporate meddling.
Dual Destinies is good. Worth a play, but at this point it's now a formula, so it goes hard on spectacle and doesn't have the pathos of the first games. The good stuff is good, there's very little bad stuff, but the great stuff is very rare.
Spirit of Justice is about the same, but it goes SO HARD chasing that pathos it overdoes it in really great ways and really stupid ways.
Investigations is good. Investigations 2 is better.
DGS is a setup they couldn't finish in one game so it's good but you need the sequel to finish the story.
I don't know about that. Giving Phoenix his badge back felt like the writers were chickening out of a bold move.
Changing the main protagonist also felt like the only way to keep the franchise fresh.
Now, what are Capcom going to do when Phoenix gets too old? He gets older with every game.
Some of the questions he asked and some statements almost made me facepalm through the roof.
Nope! He remains an idiot in later games. You can thank Dual Destinies for that.
