Earthquakes completely unbalanced and happening way too often

In several new games in the recent test branch the earthquakes are happening way too often to the point that they aren´t enjoyable. Sometimes I had earthquakes with a magnitude of over 7 occuring with distance of only several months instantly destroying several apartment blocks and other vital facilities in my cities, Please reconsider rebalancing this feature as it is utterly frustrating and is immersion breaking when earthquakes happen on a regular base

Earthquakes should not happen that frequently. This was also mentioned in a dev diary. Turning them off is not an option for me

Do you mean, not being an option because you like the idea of them, just not the frequency..?

I do wonder what factors are considered to produce and earthquake. I have had a 7.4 earthquake, as well as minor ones.

But, for many game years I have not had any. To the point where I had forgotten all about them. That is with a population of 30k.

I do have them enabled.

I like the challenge and the neccessity to plan with redundancies due to potential damages caused by earthquakes. However they are happening sometimes in very short frequencies with devastating effects. It seems totally unpredictable , with people saying they see them almost never and then on the other hand in my case seeing them pretty often. In one case I had 2 major earthquakes in 2 months.

Yes, it does seem somewhat erratic.

As noted, I had forgotten all about them due to not seeing them in my game for many game years. I just checked, and they should be occurring.

Not that it could be a factor, or the only one, but what is your population and game year..?
Do you play on realistic mode..?

Maybe they just happen randomly but rarely. That way you could still get an unlucky streak.

I had a great earthquakes and I guess reason was that I forgot to make detour to my only shopping mall while I was updating road to asphalt (realistic mode so the mall went out of food and 6 buildings were in fire). Maybe there's a reason why those earthquakes happen....

They are in the current beta branch. Just sucscribe to it and acivate serious global events
