"its not meant for direct connection" what kind of nonesense... You can direct connect road cargo stations, and meat trucks unload as fast as possible with direct connection. No forklift required. How? It's the same connection as from storage...
My whole city setup was once screwed by that change and since everything was close and tight there was no way to put in some fork lift garage + connections to get the "new" way to work.
And yes, forklifts are annoyingly slow, I don't even want to think about loading grain by factory connections having to use forklifts one day ...
For meat it's just more convenient to use a storage somewhere and then use a dedicated line, set to: "wait until unloaded" with two trucks. So one is always there. Especially since factory connections use up so much space.
