Short roads and factory connections are getting removed from CO
Dear All,
I understand that I can't reproduce bug with 100% repeatability but definitely there is something wrong with Construction Offices cancelling some small tasks.

How I found it?
I was building a new city and there was a small factory connection that was under construction for over two years despite I was adding workers via free CO to aid the construction that is too small for mechanisms. Until I realized that it is like 6th time I am adding workers there and I am still at the paving asphalt stage.
So I opened CO with workers, assigned it to to the only construction left - factory connection - and after 10 seconds construction gets cancelled from that CO. So I added it again immediately and it did not get cancelled now and construction was completed.

Then I had the same situation again at least three times with road, path and another factory connection where after assigning CO with workers construction was removed from CO after few seconds of delay.

It is possible to record it if You need but I am still unable to reproduce it on demand.
Please, let me know if You are aware of it and if You need more details.

when CO removes the construction.. that means.. there is road connection between CO and construction (as you was possible to assign construction to CO) however.. probably there is no connection to CO > source > construction.. may be some sign or so... most probably there is problem in the route between source and construction..
I agree with that it is something with pathfinding.
I had separated CO with buses only and it was picking up workers from train platform in nearby city. I am sure platform was getting empty each time train arrived and CO had this info status that source is without workers. However, I never observed cancelling construction due to lack of source material. No other construction were cancelled and I was building huge city back then micromanaging this CO constantly.
For sure I was setting up max number of workers for those constructions to some smaller number. Like 6 workers for paths, and about 20-30 for short roads and short factory connections.
I also feel like the time it took to remove the construction form CO matches with the time it took bus to get to train platform. Like construction was removed due to some issue between train platform and construction site.
Still it do not explain why only those few construction sites were affected and why re-assigning it immediately fixed the issue.

Now all the constructions are finished but I will be monitoring this closer to see if i can reproduce the issue on demand in next city.
It happens again with new city, new (free) CO, new source of workers.
I assigned short factory connection to CO with workers. Then I started recording video if You need it, however, it just shows that construction was removed after roughly 80 sec.

It is not getting removed from any other COs.

EDT:
Oh gosh... It removed also forklift garage and I am running out of ideas what is going on.
Take a look at this 3.5 min long non public video:
https://youtu.be/9BMMNep4jGw

Timeline:
0:27 - Power Wire construction complete,
0:37 - bottom Factory Connection removed,
0:50 - mid Factory Connection removed,
1:07 - I am reassigning both Factory Connections,
1:19 - top Factory Connection removed,
1:21 - Forklift Garage removed,
1:31 - I am reassigning Factory Connection and Forklift Garage, bottom Factory Connections removed, I am reassigning it again,
1:45 - top and bottom Factory Connections removed,
1:58 - mid Factory Connection removed,
2:26 - I am reassigning Factory Connections,
2:40 - bus 1 arrives to Power Line,
2:52 - bus 2 arrives to Power Line,
3:15 - top Factory Connection removed,
3:23 - bottom Factory Connection removed,
3:35 - mid Factory Connection removed,
3:37 - Forklift Garage gets removed.

Here are my observations:
1. There is no problem with other buildings like power wires, shops, warehouses etc.
2. This is not limited to free CO. I build vanilla CO and the problem is the same.
3. Now it is impossible to build those factory connections and forklift garage, each time they get removed.
4. There is no one way roads in the republic except those in bus end station and grain silos.
5. There is no road signs between CO, bus station and factory connection except some 'no plow' on side roads.

How it looks like:
1. Bus is being send to train station for workers. Despite there is road connection bus decides to use pedestrian path. This is not a problem for other constructions.
2. Bus gets loaded with workers and idles for a while.
3. For a fraction of a second there is a status:
"Start or End building is not connected to the road".
4. Construction is removed from CO and bus teleports to CO.
Final observation:
When I demolished pedestrian path and CO had to use regular road connection problem disappeared.

This is really strange.

I can confirm this is still happening in 1.0.0.7....currently happening in my game with a sewage discharge and a CO with exclusively busses. The Bus-CO works for other constructions, and other COs work on this building, but the CO thats supposed to bring the workers keeps removing itself...

*Edit:
So in my case it seems to be due to roadsigns forbidding busses - I assume no-bus signs blocking CO-buses is a leftover mechanic from before building maintenance was introduced, when it didn't really matter. Now the sign isn't just routing buslines, its blocking every building on a road from being maintained, which i think shouldn't be the case, and was never intended...

In my case there is no sign in the vicinity of the platform, yet, while using path connection I was observing mentioned behavior. Here is how it looks like. Path connection (under demolition to force CO using regular road connection) is just next to the road connection and it makes a big difference:

What I observed (with the signs) is that it gets unselected only when the CO tries to path to it - not when I first tell the CO to work there. So the bus goes all the way to the station, picks up workers, and only then the construction gets unselected...Which means the player doesn't really know there even is a pathing issue. So it gets hard to notice, hard to diagnose, and thereby hard to pin down the problem. If the game has whatever problem to path there it should not be possible to assign a construction, as it is when you try to assign something unconnected - the game does some sort of pathing check when trying to assign constructions, which simply isn't completely working.

I agree. I already stated it in my observations. This also explains variable time interval between assigning the construction and cancellation.
However, (at least for me) problem seems to be somewhere else as there is no issue with actual path to the construction. Not only I was taking workers from the same bus platform using pedestrian path, I was also delivering them to the same new city that was under construction and there were no problems with that. And finally: forcing CO to use road connection that is just 10 meters closer to the CO completely solved the issue.

Please, take a deeper look at it.
It is fourth city in a row where I am facing the same behavior:
Construction Office has source of workers set to passenger train station. Despite there is road connection it uses pedestrian path.
Everything works fine except for some construction types like factory connection. When CO is triggered to deliver workers to short factory connection it reaches train station via pedestrian path, loads workers and can't find way out/to construction site.
I somehow feel it happens because when bus uses pedestrian path it changes its type of vehicle (in the background) and the temporary type of vehicle is not accepted by the factory connection that's why it can't find way to construction site.

I have only had this issues with oneway roads that can cause pathfinding issues (very rare) or if you upgrade/remove a road that was previously usable, causing pathfinding issues. if you use a one way building, you have to have both entrances and exits with complete paths.

If the bus takes a sidewalk form a one way road, it may get lost on the way back and make the CO lose the build site.

This is fourth city in a row with the same behavior and I am very careful with signs and one way roads. Road entrance is just few meters away. And all other buildings are working fine with CO using pedestrian path. And all factory connections are working fine with CO using road connection.
I wonder if it is possible that my entire save is somehow broken... I think I will do the tests on new map maybe.
Ok. I checked in on completely new map, simplest example and it acts exactly the same.

Here is another non public video showing the bug:

Would You be so kind an confirm You see the same in that setup?

EDIT:
Anyway, I decided to sent a bug report.
