War Machine.
There should be military division and manufacturing, Training camps, SAM sites, air-defence, air bases, hungers and bunkers. Bring the game up a notch by adding war and invasion for resource,

I sure don't. I like having "money sinks" such as military bases and rocketry but I absolutely do not want this to change from a purely civil game.

Agreed. I do have bases and military equipment, but just for defense. I like. Latelly, I added a system to increase loyalty per military vehicle or building, just a small tweak to make it more realistic.
What I did think about doing once was, when I did a Berlin map, make one with western vehicles and buildings on the other side of the map and separated by a wall, so one day I could destroy the wall and have West Berlin joinning East Berlin. But that would only be a headache both to create and to play.

This, very much this. Money sink is ok, military with action is a big NO. If OP wants military actions they should go and play C&C or other military themed game.

Yep. Military should only be a resource sink and maybe have some political effect (local or foreign). I shudder to think of even dealing with Tropico style military gameplay.

As most players, I also would love a war industry and also bases for political favor/loyalty boost or whatever else, but absolutely no combat features. There is no way in Hell this could be done in any realistic way and what would be the point anyways.

However, supplying soviet brother states with armored vehicles, combat aircraft, naval vessels (I would LOVE to have a submarine base) and even the production of small arms like assault rifles etc. would be absolutely amazing and since exporting resources sooner or later becomes less and less fruitful, weapons of war ALWAYS bring money, especially in a cold war setting.

This topic comes up every then and when. I could very well imagine a few tasks carried out by military forces. Of course I wouldn't like to see fighting actions on my map. However I see a few nice options to participate in a conflict such as dealing with refugees or do some important delivery tasks for an allied country. Player could grand passage for huge amount of things for example. Imagine one thousand trucks need to pass through your map or a few hundred long trains. That would be a challenge.

I can post a few of my thoughts later on. No time atm for I'm at work.

I'm using mods for this.

I have almost all the military vehicles from the workshop, and in the last game I've decided to spend a certain % of my income for these regularly, simulating a 10% of GDP military expenditure.
Now in the 1980s I have a complete tank division and multiple squadrons of military planes and helos to keep my very peaceful republic safe :)

This is a Cold War themed game after all, military buildup without actual conflict.

The money sink aspect would be very important imo. because once you get on track in game with a couple of really good industries, it's getting too easy from the economical perspective.

Military bases and such should just be about increasing loyalty and creating jobs for workers. The military economy was a big part of life in soviet counties. The military sucked up tons of resources and manpower.
War effort means additional logistical challenge: being able to move resources quickly from one part of the map to a different place, having stockpiles, possible blackouts. And that's even without any military infrastructure mentioned yet. Could be fun and very complex. Battles on the map? Would take a lot of development to make it at least bearable. Still, if it's suppose to be military without meaningful mechanics - then big 'no'.

I do think that military should be linked with an economical mechanic for embargoes. This would ballance the game under a new light. Eletronics should be able to be upgraded via research and western eletronics should be better. Embargoes would then give a new dynamic, as you would need to buy better tech or invest heavly on research so your people won't become unloyal. Nowadays, there's no difference whatsoever for trading with western or eastern powers, except your vehicle skin and a bit of market values. This would make your dollar reserves way more useful. Embargoes should range some countries, meaning you would be able to use dolars while under a NATO embargo, yes - but to buy some old latin american outdated ford models, or some chinese and japanese small trucks that looks like a giant ant.

Next step we should add universe exploration. Expanding communistic approach to other planets is the goal. We begin with Venus ("Страна багровых туч") and end with Sarraksh ("Обитаемый остров"). We will travel with Bykov's crew to distant regions of our galaxy and help local inhabitants to create a fair and prosperous society!

Honestly... that's a really cool idea actually. Nothing deep but at least a launch site as a long-term project, perhaps when your country holds a very high educational level consistently over a certain amount of time.
