reduce the vast amount of buildings shown within each of the three categories of the residential buildings ( small, medium and large) by taking a look at the above screenshot and ensuring that only favourites are displayed there. To add a building to your favourite list, just right click on it as indicated.
To ensure that just favourites are shown and not everything, ensure that is ticked as shown at the top of the screenshot.
You will note that in the screenshot I show I have a search option in the Workshop open window, I am using the beta branch version and perhaps that feature is yet to go to the stable branch of the game. That also helps to search for known buildings.
Also I guess you didn't take that screenshot on a 17inch laptop screen like I did, since having 11 rows of buildings would be something I could live with quite easily. Might be an idea to collapse the category options into a way smaller size when you've selected something to give room a bit better.
The workshop is continuing to grow to the point where the UI might well need another tweak or two to accommodate something similar to what you suggest.
Even tho I have over 1000 workshop items installed, many of them being within the residential category, I do not expect all of them to be similarly accessible for each map I play.
I think of it as the toolbar on the left, vertical one, with all the assets (mods) being shown, with the search bar function as noted, and then the bottom one displaying my favourites that are often typically used. I appreciate the difference between the two.
Resolution, relative to monitor size, is going to influence how accessible some aspects of the game is going to be.
you can change the UI settings, that helps, here....

Might "borrow" a larger monitor from work to make it more manageable, but at the moment my 17 inch 1080p laptop screen seems like a bit of a hindrance for sure. I've played around some with scaling in the past but it's only so much you can do on a 17 inch before stuff gets unreadable and to tiny to even make out what the icons are, but thanks for the tip regardless!
Huge thanks for taking the time answering my questions, will have to see how I work around the issues I have at the moment in the end. One thing is for sure though I won't stop downloading residental buildings I like on the workshop and building cities with loads of different buildings in them!
Now back to the workshop, who knows, might be some new neat stuff to play with :)
