Enabling cheat mode temporarily, any side effects?

So, for the sake of placing trees in a spaced, proper line and the lack of any non-cheat-mode tools to achieve this without pain, are there any side effects I may encounter if I enable cheat mode, don't do anything in there except placing tree lines, then disabling cheat mode again?

There is another thread here on the game discussions where someone mentions issues the cheat mode may cause when using it to place trees in a more precise manner, is this still the case? Or is it safe to use without breaking parts of my savegame, city and/or simulation?

Hey, thanks for answering. If I do not care about Steam achievements (and I really don't xD), anything else I should be concerned about or is this really the only issue?

There is a speed up time cheat that can break saves. So be very careful about using that on a save you care about about.

You do know that planting trees and shrubs is a free event?
No cheating needed.
I 'kinda' cheat and use that to build areas for my woodcutters early game on some maps

EDIT: I should say.. I know it's free in realistic mode. Been so long since I played non realistic I do not recall. I would say it's the same tho'.

Yeah, i know it's free and doesn't require any resources and such, it's really just about being able to place lines of trees and bushes properly. Cheat mode allows to place them by drawling lines, selecting the spacing between each tree on that line, and then automatically placing them. I found this to be quite useful in the past when planting trees for avenues and such. While this for some reason isn't part of the game with cheat mode disabled, I'm just wondering if it's safe to use without compromising your save file.

ah.. Got you. Coffee lacking brain never even clicked you might be trying to do that. Read literally as "planting some trees"

It doesn't break saves. You just have to be careful what you do, as you can't ctrl+z some things if you mess up, like remove all trees, or change the terrain offset. I also don't like letting the game run with landscape mode on, i always pause it.

Enabling cheats is fine. You have to enable landscaping mode, use some specific cheats, or change the features enabled/disabled on the save (except vehicle availability) to disqualify it from achievements.

I use CHE often. I also always leave it on fast growing trees for same reason and let it go. I like to see my work results sooner. I turn it on/off at will. I would suggest you save every time before you do. Not been an issue for quite some time but there was a bug that I would encounter if I out it into landscape editor mode that when I returned to regular game would cause it to now be unlimited money... which ruined games for me until I found a way to fix it. (BTW.. no longer an issue it seems) I still enter that mode but I am nervous so I return from it asap. LOL Like I say, not been an issue for a very long time.. BUT>> Save!
