Ostensibly, the Loading station has an "import" warehouse that is its raw resource, and the Unloading station has an "export" warehouse that is its finished product for distribution.
However, the factory connection mechanics do not have an innate forward/back limit or direction within them. You would need to break up the factory connections and insert forklift stations to prevent the backflow of crops from the grain store to the "export" warehouse. Rest assured though, whatever vehicle picks up its cargo from the GrainStore will cause resources to "flow" into the store from the warehouse.
Shame containers don't have much purpose yet on a land-based map.
