Amount of ussr symbols in the game
Hi, I'm Vlad from Ukraine. I love your game so much, love it's mechanics, community and developer's attitude. But i feel ambigious about all the ussr symbols in the game. All the red stars, hammers and sickels always comes with starvation, tortures and deaths. Your country faced the pure evil that comes with these symbols. And my country is facing this now. Russians covers their purposes under "disrespect to red flags and ussr's symbols". They rise red flags over captured cities, put lenins statues back to squares and kill people with "you shouldn't have removed them".

So i would like to ask you to add ability to change gui style to some neutral, to remove these red stars from menus.

I understand that this is the significance of your game, and there are a lot of players that have chosen your game because of it. But for me this is the reason why i feel wrong when i play it. I feel that i shouldn't play the game with so many symbols of deaths in my country

Also due to lore, republic in the game is not an part of ussr. It could be some republic in central europe that is under influence of ussr and struggles to remain independent. This is actually possible with mods, but menus still remain soviet themed.

So i ask you to add ability to change gui elements, menus and backgrounds to make a game more neutral

Hi Vlad, this is just a game, please try not to make it political.... also if i am allowed, i would suggest you to read some history books, neutral or independent, or if you want, read both sides of the propaganda... nothing is black and white, everything is gray

Dear Vlad. Why do you think, that just because you are offended, the devs need to change the gui? Its a game about communism, and if you are offended by it, simply dont play it. It is bizarre that you actively seek out a game about communism, and then demand the change of the gui just becase you feel like this.
The world doesent need to cater to your feelings.

If i wanted just not to play the game i would simply not play it. This is the reason why i am writing. I am not only asking to change the game just for me. I am also asking developers about their attitude, how do they feel making the game about regime that is currently killing thousands of people just now.

again, don't politicize this, dude, especially if you are directly involved in that, you are subjective and possible fed up with propaganda... the developers showed their support for ukraine and condemned the invasion as any rational human would do, but it is too much already... they even donated a lot of money that was meant to the development of the game

That is ridiculous. Should we also ban american, british and etc symbols because they also wage wars against other countires? Look mate, i know, there is war in your country, but outside of Ukraine no one cares about it, just like you dont care about the war in Libya, Yemen, Sirya and etc. I lived trough one war in the 90s so i talk from experience. Its very bad to adopt the role of a victim, you are gonna be unhappy for the rest of your life.

Hi Vlad, such symbolism should not be taken as a real-life endorsement of the ideology, it is simply a theme the developers chose for the game (as a planned economy is best fit for a game where the player has to micromanage pretty much everything). Think of it this way: There are many games out there where you play as the "evil empire" and this game is kinda like it. Despite the game not depicting the horrors of socialism/communism, that doesn't mean that people are denying them. I hope you'll manage to still find fun in this game regardless as its depth is unmatched in this genre. Also, the game has a lot of modding support, so you can just look in the workshop for monuments without communist insignia. The only remaining communist insignia would be on the main menu then and people usually don't spend much time there.

Thanks, you understand what i mean. Actually menu is what i am talking about. Yes, you can replace any asset with one from workshop, but not the gui. And yes people dont spend so much time in start menu. But there is also a top panel in the game with the game logo, and you can't remove it in any way

There is nothing offensive about the hammer and sickle or red stars. Also these symbols have nothing to do with the modern russian state.

Honestly, this is a horrifically unhealthy mindset. I don't understand how you have even come across this game when you feel so strongly about the Soviet Union. The fact that some, even many, use socialist/Soviet symbols to justify their nationalism and jingoism should not (in a rational mind) change their meaning. Not to mention that it has no bearing whatsoever on this game which is set in the Soviet era and therefore must have these symbols. A game set in the Second World War will contain Nazi iconography – something objectively evil and incomparable. Yet this shouldn't make you feel uncomfortable and I'm sorry if it does.

All that said, I hope that peace returns swiftly to your country. There are more important concerns in life than symbols used in proper context.

Of course you can change the gui. At least the symbols used in it. There are a few mods that change icons already. Just search for some to see how it works and you can do it yourself pretty easy ;).

Привіт Влад, ти можеш замінити всі значки в кореневій папці гри, підпапка menu, перемалюй зірки, чи заміни їх на щось своє)

You can already do this.
The menu graphics are in media_soviet\menu
Most of the gui elements are in media_soviet\editor
They are all jpg or png so you don't need any special tools to edit them.

With the actual in-game objects, it's only really the monuments which are particularly Soviet, but you don't have to build them. There are plenty of non-Soviet monument mods available.

"Make a more neutral" the game what named "Soviet Republic" its the best idea what I heard today. Need to go and ask the developers of American Truck Simulator to cut stars and stripes from their game.

Locking per steam guidelines. Symbols used in this game are not related to the current happenings in Eastern Europe in any way shape or form and are for the purpose of entertainment and historical aesthetics only.

Thanks.
