Prisoner Punishment
Hi guys, crime might be easy to handle but there is a time when we have to put our eye more to this. As i facing now, i have so many criminals, yet i'm not planning to add more prison. I made the criminal that did serious crime to get 24,7 years of punishment, and for minor crime its 5,7 years. Is it better to just make the sentence not too long in consideration of prison capacity?

I do not think a model is implemented the population is outraged by too low sentences as it would be IRL. But a consequence of a short time in prison could be the modifiers do not straighten out the criminal enough and is still a disruptive element in society when released so overall citizen happiness may decline, or the amount of ciminality rise.

So taking them off the streets for longer might still be a good idea.

To prevent too much criminality orphan homes are important. With state loyal staff these can modify would be criminals into loyal citizens before you get a criminalty problem.

First, keep in mind that a year in "life expectancy" scale equals a month of in-game time. So, a 72 year-old person lived for actual six in-game years.

I assume that prison sentences count on actual in-game years scale, although, frankly, I don't remember this being confirmed/documented anywhere and I didn't observe it personally to confirm/reject this theory.

This makes your numbers, basically, a life sentence. Proper prison settings will lower/nullify the probability of future crimes for a prisoner *way* faster than these. I'd advice to follow a prisoner for some time to observe how their crime percentage changes over time, and base your sentences on these observations.

My typical settings start with 0.5 0.2 years for minor crimes.

EDIT. It's actually 0.2, not even 0.5.

No food, no clothing. Turning off the heating at Christmas works great. Of course, there is no ambulance in the forest. Cultural program - 100% propaganda. And don't forget to provide them with decent work in the uranium mine.
Those who manage to survive leave prison as law-abiding citizens, worthy of continuing their lives in our wonderful, prosperous society.
