Joining Pumpjacks with Oil Storages is correct?
Hi! I have an oil field that I want to exploit, so I built many Pumpjacks over it, one for each spot where 'source quality' was 60%+.

Now, I need to join their outputs into just one, for the Foreign Oil Pipeline.

What I did on previous maps was: join Pumpjacks 2-by-2 using the smaller Oil Storage, in order to save on the amount of Oil Pumps to build, and then connect the samaller Oil Storages 3-by-3 using the Oil Pumps, then connect the Oil Pumps using more Oil Pumps as needed, until there is just 1 output, to the Foreign Oil Pipeline.

Is there any drawback in my technique, or am I doing correctly?

Please, notice that I am NOT doing 2-level Oil Storages. I never connect one Oil Storage to another Oil Storage.

you can just go pumpjack to pump to pump.
no need for in between storage if you are exporting it right away anyway.

and even if you plan to use it at a later stage you might just add a storage to a splitter pump later in the line and use priorities to split the flow off from the export untill you overflow.

I know, but this requires more pumps to be built.
And they require energy to work, and are more costly to build, than small Oil Storages.

I use Oil Storages not because I need storing, but because I perceive them as a cheaper way of joining 2 Pumpjacks.

You can connect pumpjack to storage, but you can't connect storage to storage, you need pump between them. So, for example, you can use small 90t tank to collect oil from 2 nearby pumpjacks, and connect this tank to the pump and later to the main reservoir.

If i'm not mistaken you can do 1 pump->storage->storage and then u need another pump

Maybe. I know that pumpjack->storage->storage is not working. Learned in hard way in realistic mode.

I don't recommend connecting storage to storage.

Not working because even if the first pump can pump into the second storage, the second pump can not pull from the 1st storage, or
Simply the first pump can not push into the second storga?

In the case of the first, there are opportinities to use that system! Mass storage with less pumps to fill, than to drain. Or managing addantional material a bit differently.
(I just saw old videos about this beahiour, so if it is patched out, sorry)

My setup was pumpjack -> storage1 -> storage2 -> loader
and both pumpjack and storage1 were full, storage2 was empty.
Working setup is:
pumpjack -> storage1 -> pump -> storage2 -> loader

If you want to save money, then just use trucks to collect the oil.
You can get three trucks or so for one 333m pipe.

There was a possibility, when if the first storage was on a lower level than the second, it was able to push to the second. And if you put a 3 to 1 to both, on a way it has a priority from the fist, you have one less pump per 2nd silo to fill. (ok the formla not this but you get the idea.... One pump would/was able fill up to 6 siolos at once instesd of 3, so to manage those you need(ed) quarter less pumps 1in 2 out instead of 2+2.)

Per price or per throughput?

This was indeed possible but afair not because of height difference because all cargo types did that. You could push corn to 2 silos from one factory connection for example. It was changed like a year or two ago.

Throughput isn't really a concern this close to the oil field (a pump can handle about 600 tons/day, but pumpjacks can't make more than 7 tons/day or ~4.5 tons here), so cistern trucks are sufficient for collecting the oil. I would recommend building a tank somewhere near the center of the oil field and linking some liquid stations to it for trucks to consolidate the oil at. You can build a pipeline or railway to take it from there.

But the trucks will keep burning Fuel for all their lifetimes.
The Oil Pipelines don't need Fuel.
