Road construction starts with 0 workers
When I set the worker count outside of CO to zero, also the worker count for roads is set to zero, so they only use machines and can't build street light roads.

Not a big problem, but it get's pretty annoying when I upgrade many small segments to lighted roads and I have to manually set the count for each road to 50.

I always have the number of workes outside CO at zero, so they don't rush to the building when I don't want to build it yet or it has no resources.

This problem happend today after a small 500kb update. Before this the roads always had 50 workers set even with the number in the box for workers outside CO set to zero.

Maybe somone has this too or knows a solution, thank you!

There has always been a minimum size of road for machines. Anything smaller requires workers or it simply doesnt get done.

you are doing the right thing.
Set workers outside of CO to 0.
And then dedicate a construction office to roads only, and DO NOT buy a bus and put it in this construction office. If there is no bus then they cannot pickup workers and instead the machines will do all the work. And yes there are a road length limit.

A tip.
the game have a hotkey function ( in top of the screen below the logo of the game )
And in the left side of the screen there is a hotkey configuration tool also.
If you make a construction office with busses that pickup workers and set it to NOT automatic find work, then you can hotkey this construction office and manualy send busses with people to areas that machines was unable to finish..
That way you can reduce amount of workers and save some money, but you have to monitor it more but it give you allot of control.

Els think about what vehicles you put in the CO office, example put vehicles that make roads in one large CO is a good thing... and another with roadcranes and transport vehicles and concrete... and a good tip build the CO with concrete very close to the concrete making building so they quick can pickup when workers are in the building.

The thing is:
Setting workers outside of CO to any number is not important for road building at all.
- a CO will happily deliver more workers to any construction no matter how high you set the vallue. This Number only limit the number of workers in search for a job and in walking range of any building in construction.
- Workers do not walk to work on roads, pipes or cables ever, all these constructions will always be supplied by bus from a CO.

So you do not have to alter the vallue on any of your short roads (or long ones for that matter)

IIRC, the default setting you set only affects new constructions, so you could just change the number before setting down a lot of individual segments and then change it back.
