Bug? Game won't construct building
I have a building that I've tried rebuilding the footpath several times, I've restamped the building. And still the game will not give me permission to construct it. It's acting as if there is no access to the building which obviously isn't true. I have another building - a rubbish dump on the same footpath that is happily being built. And the footpath is connected to the road. It's just a culture building which should be buildable on a footpath - I usually only build culture buildings on footpaths only - done it many times before.

I can't see any reason why this isn't a bug.

It looks like it is only connected via footpaths, it needs road access for dumpers / excavators and so on to be able to reach it for construction. When placing buildings the building might automatically place foot path connections or road connections by what its nearest options are, but never both at the same time.

Tbh given those things also BUILD footpaths, it would be nice if the game counted those as connections like how waste trucks and fire trucks and stuff can also use them, but alas

What? Excavators and dumpers will travel on footpaths, and have always been able to travel on footpaths. Nobody except noobs use road connections for most of their city buildings, including culture buildings. Lots of buildings don't require road connections., and culture buildings are one of them, including sports and flats. They only require road connections if they actually receive vehicles, like shopping centres and hospitals and police.

See this pic as an example of a different culture building that built perfectly well on footpaths. Culture buildings don't require roads.

Yep. "Dynamo" palace of sports *has a road connection*. If a building has it, it *has* to be connected to road network to be built. Only the ones that have only footpath connections, will be built using footpaths.

I have no clue if you can remove it later and still retain firefighting services etc for that building. Probably not.

Yea this is what I meant* to say, not that they literally can't use it, just that certain buildings they won't/can't use it if road is the alternative connection type

OP is a newb, that's why they're asking and I pointed it out given building is listing its lack of road connection. That is why it isn't getting built, other guy just explained it better why they aren't using footpaths for it - I was just meaning, I wish game in ALL circumstances would still count a footpath as a connection even when building also has a road connection and allow it to be built that way cuz its inconsistent given you already can build other buildings with just footpaths haha.

Actually, I need to adjust the above slightly. That statement is valid for *vanilla* buildings.
I believe there are plenty of modded buildings having both road & footpath connections which has the ability to be built via footpaths *if* they don't involve respective services like goods delivery.

Once again, this isn't true. Most flats actually have road connections, as do most of the sports and culture buildings, but you don't have to use them, and most people don't use them. This is a culture building. It shouldn't require a road connection.

Okay, fair enough. Let's rephrase that this way: if the building *warns* you it requires road connection for construction, you should heed that warning.

Generally speaking, buildings need a road connection if any of the following are true:
1. The building does not have footpath access.
2. The building consumes or produces resources other than waste in normal operation.
3. The building has one or more "stations for loading/unloading."

The Palace of Sports Dynamo may not actually need a road connection in normal operation, but it does have a station for loading/unloading and thus requires road access.

Furthermore, if I recall correctly, buildings that require roads for construction also require roads for fire, police, and ambulance access.
