Be smart, plan for roundabouts/rerouts
In my current game, I thought I wouldn't need roundabouts until way later because this isn't Cities Skylines and my town is actually walkable. Unfortunately construction and technical services clog up the two entrances to the town so much during winter that my citizens freeze in their nice, walkable neighbourhood.

And because I packed everything pretty tight, I now need to construct an alternative electric substation and, not sure yet, bus end station so I can demolish the current ones and fit a roundabout. But just the rerouting is already taking months and I might have to suffer through another cold winter before the new roads are actually done and can do their job.

Edit: This game really makes me empathise with city planners. I'm not going to be as mad anymore when a "simple" road reconstruction takes ages to finish and leads to subpar traffic in the meantime.

Default behavior is to yield on traffic coming from the right. And for traffic inside roundabouts by default behavior they'll yield for traffic entering there. So... Yield signs must be added. Unless you make some weird clockwise roundabout.
Yes, I have since discovered this is exactly why we need yield signs to change default behaviour where we do not need to do that here in Australia - and explains the difference between what I thought should happen and what actually does.

I'm now calling on devs to develop an 'Australian' version so you can all learn to drive properly :steamsunny:

I do see yield signs on a Strayan roundabout

Looks like in Australia you'll also yield for the right, but as Australia has left-sided traffic, thus roundabouts are clockwise, thus yield signs can be technically omitted (only found one small roundabout not having yield signs).

Just build bus only roads

'Tis true, most populated areas have signs... but they are redundant, as signage is for the most part, for the same reasons. It's rare for a sign not to match the default and is what makes them redundant.

I reckon we only put them there so the foreigners know which part of Australia is actually a road so they don't crash into kangaroos and things that might eat them.

Many countries in Europe have issue with too many signs. Accident happens, put up couple signs and call it a day, resulting in urban areas without single household in sight for miles and such oversaturation of signals you're not able to read all of them while driving, so you ignore most of them anyway, so they put up even more...

It's a thrill reading through all those replies and learning stuff not only about the game but also other countries!

My roundaboot is now finished (took construction and demolition long enough) and it seems to work as hoped for IF you mark the circle as one-way and put up signs in such a way that entering traffic needs to yield.

Yeah, Germany is notorious for this. In the rural areas, it's pretty manageable, honestly, but in bigger towns and cities we do have what we call a"Schilderwald" (sign forest). But at least we don't have animated and bright lit billboards on every corner, like the guys across the pond. That would distract so much more even. The traffic signs, at least, convey useful information about how to best approach any given street/road
