Connect multiple electric substations?
Hi, I am trying to understand the rules about electric substations... electric substations cannot have other substations connected to them, right?

Currently I am buying electricity from the border > high voltage switch > transformer > medium voltage switch > substation. In this instance, I cannot add another substation after the initial substation, right?

My experiences so far indicate that substations do not pass-through; it's all inputs and no outputs.

I just tested it and you can't daisy chain substations like that. The multiple connections on substations was a thing added with the 1.0 release, or at least it was a very recent update. I can see how it can be misleading.

Substations are all input, no output. Consider the additional connection points as backup alternatives, if the main connection breaks for any reason.

You always need to use the transformer stations to pass on power.

Particularly important in this game where you have to remove connections to put in new junctions! Alternate routes are way more important here than anything else I've played.

Yeah that's something I definitely underestimated at first jumping headfirst into realistic mode.

Always leave a spare connection on the transformer stations and be sure to use switches for your pipes. Cause you're going to need it at some point to divert things when rebuilding or expanding somewhere.

Yeah i learned few times now to always build A LOT of switches. You want a circle formed around city so you can always safly drop one connection and put a new switch in between

It seems strange to me that when you throw a line with poles at a transformer you cannot connect to that same line so as not to have to remove thousands of line poles everywhere to the point of being left with an impressive mess, and that it becomes difficult to relocate the light poles, using Google translator.

Better off using switches as your 'hubs' and branching a bunch of substations from a switch. With the added bonus that you *can* pass power through a switch. Just watch your capacity.

Rather than placing a lot of switches everywhere, you can also just assume for every substation you'll need a switch to go with it.
Thank you very much, everyone! I really appreciate all this info.
