road roller / road construction
Is the road roller / road construction only needed for asphalt roads or can it also be used for gravel roads?

Rollers are only used for asphalt paving. Gravel roads can be built with a bulldozer or excavator.

Rollers and pavers are used only for laying asphalt in the construction of:
- asphalt roads
- asphalt walkways
- factory connections

Rollers and pavers can be used on runways and taxiways too.
Excavators can do the job of bulldozers, but they get a 30% reduction in output and are generally a lot more expensive than a similarly rated bulldozer.
